Neighbours then and now

Looking back at how neighbours used to be then I see a paradigm shift in behaviour of today's neighbours. In the good old days there was never a day when there was no interaction between neighbours. Visiting each other was more a rule than an exception Everyone rallied around if there was an event in anyone's house lending a hand. And in contrast my neighbours today are totally private. There are months that we ever say Hi to each other leave alone knowing what's going on in their household. I wish the old times came back. What's your experience?

I live in an apartment complex, where you can’t help but know your neighbors. I’m lucky right now that the three other people on my floor are quiet. I trust one of them enough that he gets my packages for me when I’m out of town, and vice versa. I’m friendly with several others, but you don’t want to get too friendly with a lot of people here. They aren’t all safe.

That is how it should be. Friendly but not too friendly.

It's good you had a couple of nice neighbours,I do think should keep necessary distance with some neighbours, they aren't all safe.

If I'm one of your neighbors, I'll always be that private one even back in the good old days. If you didn't move houses though, I guess it's because the neighbors got older, have passed on, or maybe because of modern technology.

To each their own as they say but neighbours should be neighbours which means they should once in a way atleast interact with each other

Can't avoid the interaction, but not much of a concern for me as an introvert.

This is a small rural town and everyone is friendly and talk to you when you are outside.

In city,we met same situation as you, there are rarely interactions between neighbours. When ppl got back home, just closed the door, cut off from outside. And i can make sure that the old times never come back,we need face the fact.

Inter dependence kept the flame of interaction going in the good old days
