I Am Missing Dhiraj Today

I don't know why; but today I have been recalling one of my middle school friends whose name was Dhiraj. We were close friends. We used to study and play with each other. Often we would visit each other's houses. I had a story book. It was in Hindi. One day Dhiraj borrowed the book from me and promised to return it within two or three days. A week passed and he didn't return the book. One day we fell out with each other over a petty issue as juveniles often do. After quarreling with each other we stopped talking with each other. One day I reminded he had borrowed the story book from me and had not returned it. I immediately went to his house. I pressed the call bell. His mother opened the door and asked me to come in. I did not enter the house and said to her flatly that I wanted to meet Dhiraj. She went in and returned with Dhiraj following her. I asked Dhuraj I had come to get the book he had borrowed from me many days ago. Dhiraj asked me wait for a minute and went in. After a few minutes he returned with the book. Handing over the hook to me he said to me; " Sorry; Jai; the book was in a bad condition. Many pages were loosened. It took me some days to bind it properly. I'm so sorry for the delay. ....OK; but won't you come in to have a cup of tea with me and my mother??" I was speechless. Suddenly I stepped ahead and hugged Dhiraj tightly. We became close friends again. Today I'm missing him. His family has left the town and settled in a western state Gujarat.
