So, I went off to the local Chinese place for lunch today. It is a pretty good place, but one time I was there they gave me "training chopsticks" when I asked for chopsticks. Umm, that was a bit insulting..sure I don't eat with them like somebody who grew up in Asia or something, but I am not going to starve to death, or drop food all over myself or the table, I have been using them in Chinese restaurants for many years. I think they were being a bit smart alecky. I asked for chopsticks today, and got the regular ones. I guess they thought I wasn't going to make a mess.

I ask for forks and spoons at Chinese restaurants. I have never been able to use chopsticks.

You have to practice. It doesn't come naturally to those of us brought up with forks and spoons.

@snowy22315 I did not do it at the right moment. Right now it is not easy for me even to use a fork.

@marguicha I don't think it is a lifeskill anybody has to master unless your family has no silverware.

Probably not that many in your country do, unless they are of Chinese descent.

I wouldn't go that far, but I don't need training chopsticks!

I like to use them in Chinese restaurants, and if I make something Chinese at home.

Yeah, they have rubber bands on them to keep them stable.
