Holy books, movies, and dumb interpretations

I joined this "parayan" as we call it...you read a holy book ..two chapters, on one day per week...the chapters are allotted, and we get to read those before six pm. Thursdays, that has become part of my routine. We get a week to reflect upon what we read, and try to correct ourselves...at least that seems to be the objective.
Why did I join? I am 65. Most Indian women with as bad a waist and lower part do it...I don't want to be the odd man out...rather odd woman out. LOL.
Ok...that is nasty...but you see, it is a joke on myself.
I joined it out of faith ...I acquired last year...following my cousin's demise.
I got many benefits...my health has improved, my nasty personality has subsided to some extent..Pony must be feeling so relieved. And of course, our case in apex court has started moving ...and seems to be on course for complete resolution...I am hoping for a positive outcome this May or latest by August or September this year.
But the book asks me to read Ramayan, and Mahabharat. I am sorta woman libber.. I could not accept reading such books...they are war related holy epics...so ...I questioned in my mind...how can you ask me to read those books...funny thing is I got a logical reply to the questions I raised on our holy scriptures.
I have raised questions on our holy books...several times. I guess it was under belief that I am educated and intelligent person so I need to question and what does not seem logical, reject.
Many people ..more intelligent and educated than I tried to convince me...and then there are movies and television serials that offered their interpretations.
But logic is logic....if the piece does not seem to fit perfectly in the jigsaw puzzle, Vanny the great intellectual will not accept it. That is how egoistic I have been.
The recent explanations that came from within, took me off guard. They were so logical. It seemed as if a teacher was telling it to me. It was not one doubt ...many doubts have been cleared forcing me to accept that I need to be humble and understand the scriptures.
And well, it is not merely Hindu scriptures that Shirdi Sai Baba asks us to read. Which goes well with my secular nature. While I may not understand much of other religions, I at least have accepted that if Baba says read, the content is right, even if interpretations differ ..and some of these interpretations maybe outright crazy.
All the answers are within us. Isn't it strange? And it is an outsider that needs to open the door to that part of our brain. Strange that it had to be dead teacher who did it for me.

As a child blind faith is fine and actually needed because we cannot understand many situations unless we experience them. As a grown up, blind faith to an extent is still needed because there is lack of experience in all areas of life. We may get the experience or go out without any. But if doubts do come up, brushing them under carpet is kinda making the faith hollow, destroying its foundations.
People do come up with different interpretations. I don't say all are wrong. Maybe there is a grain of truth there too. Who am I to decide? All I can say is this explanation makes sense to me.
Over the years I have realized that same action can be right or wrong from different perspectives. Likewise, telling truth is not always the right thing. LOL. So doing wrong at times is the right thing!!! Life is complex, god has taken care of me so far. Hope he takes me home gently.

It's nice that you are seeing an improvement. Many times we just need to revisit some old items we haven't looked at for a while. The answers are within us. I don't believe in God and Christianity is not something I go for. But, I do believe there is some spiritual things we all need to take in and evaluate.
