Trump's inauguration will be held indoors on Monday

The weather is supposed to be brutally cold so both he and VP-elect JD Vance will be sworn in in the US Capitol Rotunda. Speeches and prayers will be delivered there too. The ceremony will be broadcast live in an arena so people can watch the events without having to stand outside in the freezing weather. This also happened 40 years ago when Ronald Reagan was sworn in for the second time.
I get it. The temperatures are going to be crazy cold and dangerous. The temperature also would keep most sane people from attending an outdoor event. There are rumblings on Twitter that Trump moved the ceremony inside because he didn't want to be seen with an even smaller crowd than what he had in 2017. We all remember then press secretary Sean Spicer immediately going out for his first remarks and brazenly lying about the crowd size despite the fact that there was photographic evidence that it wasn't well-attended like Obama's. So it is entirely plausible that it was moved indoors to prevent similar optics.
I just realized that the inauguration is on Monday and I have off from work that day. I'll be able to watch it all unfold as it happens. I remember watching Trump take the oath of office the first time on my computer at work. I didn't vote for him and wasn't happy that he won but it was history so I wanted to see it. That will be the same case again this time around.
@lovebuglena aren't you glad that you didn't book that hotel room?

Will it happen at a roller derby skating rink?

I was not surprised to see that headline pop up on the fox weather app. We know that states like Texas and even Florida are expected to see snowfall to some degree next week. So, we know we have the weather as solid proof as to why it'd be moved indoors. Size of turnout or not.

My weather app shows 34 F. That’s not super cold. And if it snows it won’t be a lot.

I know two people at my work who were planning to attend the inauguration in person, but that was before they announced that they were moving it indoors. I don't know if either of those two will make the trip now. But they are die-hard Trumpers, so they probably will still go.
I work on Monday, so I won't watch the event.

Hubby still wants to go. I hope he doesn’t book anything without telling me first. I’m not totally against going but I don’t want to stay too far from DC.

It is funny to me that you are trying to make an inference that Trump is not popular. May I remind you that he received 63 million votes in 2016. He received 74 million votes in 2020. And he received 77 million votes in 2024. His popularity has never once waned. It has only grown.
I don't understand why it is so important to you to deny he's popular.

@NJChicaa Pure nonsense. First of all, it's not a cult. Second of all, you sat there all smug and said all throughout covid, "People didn't want to die, that's why they didn't attend Biden rallies." NOW you want to say Trump SHOULD force his supporters to sit in freezing cold?
You make no sense. You're all over the place.
