Can You Believe This?

One of my favorite channels on YouTube is Relateable Reese. She recently moved to a small town in Tennessee with her son, Huxley, who is in the 9th grade. He was recently sick with a viral infection and was on an antibiotic with a side effect of causing diarrhea. He was feeling better and so he went back to school. He had not gotten some of his work done by a certain date in one of his classes so he got a day in detention. He is still on the antibiotic and he needed to use the restroom. He went up to the teacher and asked to use it. The teacher said 'no' and told him to go sit down. He did so and 20 minutes later he went back up to the teacher and asked again telling him he felt as if he might crap his pants. The teacher bent down, picked up a bucket, and handed it to him. As if the boy was supposed to just drop his pants and go right there. He was humiliated and there were about six other kids sitting right there who heard and saw this. I guess the teacher had texted the nurse and she came a few minutes later and took Huxley to the bathroom. She also gave him some Pepto. The school didn't call his mother or anything. His mother, RR, didn't find out about this until he came home and told her. She called the school and, as is their pattern, they were pretty flip about it. Huxley says that the other kids use a lot of racial slurs. He is not used to this and has discussed it with his mother. RR says that when she went to register Huxley for school the lady she dealt with told her that this school had the reputation for being "the prison school". It was very strict. She and Huxley are used to the good schools where he has gone previously. Can you believe this treatment? RR is going to speak to a civil rights attorney. She is also meeting with the superintendent. I think she should take him out of this school and home-school him until she can find a better school. I think that this is a major civil rights violation. A person anywhere should have the right to use the bathroom and not be humiliated like he was. What are your thoughts?

I wonder what the teacher would have done if the kid said ok, and started to take his pants down.

How rotten that teacher is. I hope she gets in trouble. Poor kid. I’d have walked out of class if it were me.

Since this was on Youtube, I find it hard to find the truth in it. If the channel is monetized, the more views it gets the more she gets paid. On the off-chance this is actually true, it doesn’t surprise me. A lot of public schools get away with a lot of things that would otherwise be considered illegal because they know they can. They’re often poorly funded and the staff know there aren’t many options to send their children for school.
