A Friend's Greeting
I'd like to be the sort of friend that
you have been to me;
I'd like to be the help that
you've been always glad to be;
I'd like to mean as much to you
each minute of the day
As you have meant, old friend of mine,
to me along the way.
I'd like to do the big things and
the splendid things for you,
To brush the gray from out your skies
and leave them only blue;
I'd like to say the kindly things that
I so oft have heard,
And feel that I could rouse your soul
the way that mine you've stirred.
I'd like to give you back the joy
that you have given me,
Yet that were wishing you a need
I hope will never be;
I'd like to make you feel as rich as I,
who travel on
Undaunted in the darkest hours with you to
lean upon.
I'm wishing at this time that I
could but repay
A portion of the gladness that
you've strewn along my way;
And could I have one wish this year,
this only would it be:
I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you have been to me.

A friend is someone that can understand you through thick and thin, that can shine you inspite of your rainy days.
A friend is not of how often helps he gives, but of how often appreciation and cherishness lives your relation and keeping it even in a great distance.
A friend is not realizing your fault or mistake, but switching your weakness to be your strength.
Of making your understand it is unimportance to fail, as long as there's hope to win with someone caring for you, like your friend.

A friend. The complexity of the meaning contradicts the simplicity of the truth. According to me, a friend is...
...one who cares about you, altruistically (without expecting anything in return).
...one who will answer your phone call and talk to you, at any time of the day or night, whether they are sleeping or not, or working the next day, because they truly care.
...one who will hold you in their arms when you are crying, even if their girlfriend or boyfriend is right there, because they need to try and make you feel better.
...one who desires to stay in touch, by email, phone or in person, at least once a week, even when you are too busy, depressed or preoccupied to remember to do that for them.
...one who will let you sleep on their couch, and share their food if you are in trouble and have nobody else to go to.
...one who will make their own life a little more difficult, to take some of the difficulty in yours away.
...one who knows your feelings by the look in your eyes and the sound of your voice.
...one who loves you, because they don't have a reason to other than pure friendship.
When you can feel these things are true of someone, that person is, indeed, your friend.
