A New Plan

The fact of the matter is that I blog, and I write articles, and if you have followed me long enough around here on myLot, of course you'd be quite aware that 95% of any my "commentary" has to do with money and politics.
It's the same with my blogs and articles.
When I first retired, I thought, maybe it would be a good idea to find a way to translate what I do on the page to YouTube, thereby increasing my audience through a different medium.
The fact is, I am a writer. Not a "media star." As some have joked in the past, "I have a face for radio."
But what I can do is YouTube shorts, and I have suddenly begun to think, if all I do is about one new short a day, I could probably accomplish the goal of building an audience in the video format while still potentially driving traffic to the written blogs and articles.
They are easy to produce, quick to release, and if I never make money on YouTube it doesn't matter if I can drive traffic to the things that do make me money now. The written articles and blogs.
So, that's my new plan going forward. To produce a quick commentary short each day and provide links and references to my blogs and articles. Has anyone else tried this and what was your experience?
Do you think that this new plan could work?

Youtube shorts are no more than one minute in length. So you'll need to decide what's short-worthy and what may warent a longer video. Many famus youtubers never show their faces and treat their channels like podscats.

They actually changed length to three minutes. The last few videos I have done were all shorts as opposed to long form, and they tend to get better traction, for whatever reason, I have found, so this is really just an idea to double down and massively increase the frequency of posting.

@kaylachan It really is. Plus, long form videos are VERY time consuming. Between prep, shooting, editing and getting it out there, a short 10 minute video could take 10 hours to produce. I'd rather focus on the writing, and producing a 1-3 minute short only takes about an hour or two.

Have you looked into doing Reels on Facebook? Some of them last a lot longer than 1 minute. I sometimes sit and watch them. Some people sing, some tell jokes, all kinds of cat and dog videos, The Rest Of The Story with Paul Harvey has been playing on there. I follow a lot of different people on there. Would like to see your Blogs and articles. Always looking to learn something new every day.
