A New Plan

The fact of the matter is that I blog, and I write articles, and if you have followed me long enough around here on myLot, of course you'd be quite aware that 95% of any my "commentary" has to do with money and politics.
It's the same with my blogs and articles.
When I first retired, I thought, maybe it would be a good idea to find a way to translate what I do on the page to YouTube, thereby increasing my audience through a different medium.
The fact is, I am a writer. Not a "media star." As some have joked in the past, "I have a face for radio."
But what I can do is YouTube shorts, and I have suddenly begun to think, if all I do is about one new short a day, I could probably accomplish the goal of building an audience in the video format while still potentially driving traffic to the written blogs and articles.
They are easy to produce, quick to release, and if I never make money on YouTube it doesn't matter if I can drive traffic to the things that do make me money now. The written articles and blogs.
So, that's my new plan going forward. To produce a quick commentary short each day and provide links and references to my blogs and articles. Has anyone else tried this and what was your experience?
Do you think that this new plan could work?

Youtube shorts are no more than one minute in length. So you'll need to decide what's short-worthy and what may warent a longer video. Many famus youtubers never show their faces and treat their channels like podscats.

They actually changed length to three minutes. The last few videos I have done were all shorts as opposed to long form, and they tend to get better traction, for whatever reason, I have found, so this is really just an idea to double down and massively increase the frequency of posting.

@kaylachan It really is. Plus, long form videos are VERY time consuming. Between prep, shooting, editing and getting it out there, a short 10 minute video could take 10 hours to produce. I'd rather focus on the writing, and producing a 1-3 minute short only takes about an hour or two.

If you can back it, he has always been a fraud with your guidance, is that what this is?

@porwest Do provide us with what he is doing. I am not seeing it. He is letting out every criminal in US and telling other countries do not be a criminal. Yet, he is the biggest one. I want you to explain to me what he is doing. You were in the Army, I was in the Marines. We know honorable leaders when we see them. He is not one.

@crossbones27 I still have no idea what you are talking about or what it has to do with this post. Are you high? And by the way, I was not in the Army. I was in the Navy.

I'm not 100% sure but it's possible that crossbones was referring to your image. Although our new president wasn't the one that let the criminals into the country so I'm not sure.
I've heard of shorts but I don't really know what they are.
Do you have a web page where you post your blogs? I wrote many blogs years ago on several platforms. Most were on WordPress but they were the free type.
And yes, I think you're idea could work.

@porwest I still have a few articles on hunkered but I've never made any money from them. There was one that I did make a bit from, cashing out once it twice a year. But they revamped that party of their site so I pulled it and how to write a book related to it once I find my 'round to it button.
I used blogspot early on but also used Yola, type pad and many more.

I will send you a link to my Facebook page where I post links to my various articles and blogs. As for Crossbones, that may be it actually now that I think about it. I didn't intend for the image to be part of the discussion, but rather to illustrate what my blogs look like. But I can see how he got there.
As for where I write, mostly it's HubPages and Blogspot these days. I'd like to have another platform to use, but so far I haven't found one that I like.
Regarding shorts, they are simply short videos on YouTube that are 1-3 minutes in length and are formatted horizontally vs. vertically.

@MarshaMusselman I like the ease of Blogspot, but making money on HubPages is MUCH easier to do. You get paid more for views on HubPages than Blogspot does, and by a lot. If I got the views on HubPages that I get on my Blogspot posts, I'd make a fortune.

I’ve never done shorts. Is that similar to reels on IG?
Good luck with your new venture. Hope it works out.

Have you looked into doing Reels on Facebook? Some of them last a lot longer than 1 minute. I sometimes sit and watch them. Some people sing, some tell jokes, all kinds of cat and dog videos, The Rest Of The Story with Paul Harvey has been playing on there. I follow a lot of different people on there. Would like to see your Blogs and articles. Always looking to learn something new every day.
