WTF with the very end of the season finale of Outlander?

I'm a die-hard fan of the books and TV adaptation of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. Yesterday I got back here after work at 2 but had to wait to watch the season 7 finale. That was rough. I've watched it several times since then. I know that they are trying to combine everything together because they only had 8 seasons. The Outlander author, Diana Gabaldon, is still writing the 10th and final book. Looks like the screenwriters are already taking liberties when there is still original material to use. Not cool. **spoiler alert** I truly have no clue what the very end of the episode was about. I mean I get it **spoiler alert** it was Master Raymond the apothecary she knew in France and who saved her life when she had a miscarriage. He asked for forgiveness she would understand in the future and then a young girl is seen singing the same song in a church that Claire sang to her dead baby. Claire asks Frances where she learned the song and she responded that her mother taught it to her. Claire concludes the episode by saying that Faith (the miscarriage) survived. I swear this is like the other shows jumping the shark. I loved the first 3 seasons of The Man In The High Castle and then it jumped the shark the 4th and final season. That was totally the vibe from that last Outlander episode.
