Do you have a comfort food?

I always thought of a comfort food as being your favorite food. I would say grilled cheese or macaroni and cheese are mine. But then I got thinking with how I eat cereal probably 4 nights a week that maybe that is my comfort food. I’ve done this for years. Most the time I’d rather just sit and eat that then cook anything. Well that’s understandable rather then the time it takes to cook. Cereal is easy and quick to prepare. Even when my husband offers to make something yummy for dinner I just want cereal. I’ll eat whatever he makes but it’s not what I really want most the time I just want cereal. When I’m out I look forward to going home and eating it. I never tire of it and almost always eat the same kind.

Actually I eat a little dish of cereal when I am feeling anxious, I find eating it really relaxes me.

@Juliaacv that’s interesting. So I guess cereal is good for both of us. I wonder how common it is as a comfort food.

@GardenGerty I just made a snack a few days ago peanut butter, honey melted and mixed with cheerios then I sprinkled mini chocolate morsels on the top.

That certainly sounds like your comfort food! I know a lady who more or less lives on boiled rice. She just loves it and never looks for anything else.

@shaggin Yes, I think so. If she adds anything, it might just be a few spices.

I have no real favorite, I have many favorites. There are times I really crave home made chili. My go to fast meal is a microwaved potato. I may put cheese on it or other toppings, but I am also really happy just with butter. Some people want to snack on chips, but me, I want a potato.

@GardenGerty cereal isn’t my favorite food but I think it may be my comfort food. I actually don’t like baked potatoes at all but my husband does. I should make some for dinner tonight to go with the leftover meatloaf.

I’d normally say any kind of pasta, although I don’t eat pasta normally. But I certainly used to.

@AmbiePam that sounds amazing. I tried a new recipe last month that was a huge hit there were a lot of different cheeses in it and odd ingredients like tobasco sauce and lemon pepper seasoning.

@AmbiePam yum I eat a lot of pasta. It’s definitely comforting nice warm pasta in my belly. What’s your favorite pasta dish? Mine would be macaroni and cheese. I absolutely hate spaghetti noodles though.

@rakski I love those so much too. Chocolates may be a good one as a comfort food as they do make me feel better when I’m grumpy with how good they are.

@Tina30219 I don’t like either of those either but sometimes with other things they are perfect. Like cookies with craisins and white chocolate and walnuts are so good. And dark chocolate with peanut butter in it is really good.

@RasmaSandra I absolutely hate milk. I put just enough milk in to wet the cereal and stir it in but I don’t like it making my cereal soggy or being able to taste the milk in my mouth. However I do like almond and soy milk.
