Hubby didn’t get into the rally

Hubby traveled to Washington DC last night for the Trump rally at Capital One Arena this Sunday. The trip was about three-and-a-half hours. He stood in line for about six hours in bad weather and he still didn’t get in. What a bummer!
I heard there were people who camped out overnight or came to the venue in the early hours of the morning to stay in line for a chance to get in. There were no screens outside the venue so hubby wasn’t able to watch it and went back to the hotel.
I’m watching the rally on YouTube.
I was bummed that I chose not to go to Washington DC but maybe that was for the best.
I have no idea what will happen with the inauguration tomorrow as it will be moved inside the Capitol. Hubby said he will not attempt to get into the Capital One Arena again to watch the inauguration on screens. He will go to the National Mall and see what will happen there. I have a feeling there won’t be any screens there so people can catch the inauguration. It will be a major bummer if he can’t watch the inauguration being in Washington DC.
I am gonna watch it on TV and will DVR it as well.

Don't know why people bother. Sort of sad to be right there in the city and still have to watch it on TV or miss it all together.

It’s a different experience being at the rally than watching it on tv.

@NJChicaa being in DC is accomplished. Being at the rally was a bust though. And seeing the inauguration will be a bust as well probably.

@AmbiePam why couldn’t they have an online system where you can get a ticket to a rally just like you’d get a ticket to a concert or another event? Same concept just there would be no step to enter payment info as tickets are free.

Of course. It’s crazy that these rallies (though free) don’t have actual tickets like concerts would and only those with tickets get in.

The rally he can probably rewatch online or whatever the DVR recorded. And inauguration should record as well, hopefully in its entirety.

No surprise there. It's supposed to get nasty. They have elected to move the inigeration inside or so I've heard.

@lovebuglena 's what they're called. And, that doesn't surprise me. It's going to be a madhouse tomorrow, he's safer in the hotel since no one would be seeing it in-person anyway.

Yea. Due to the weather they chose to move it indoors. Maybe trying to go to the National Mall is a mistake and hubby should just watch the inauguration on TV in his hotel.
Going to Capital One Arena again would not be a good idea as he’d probably not get in again.
He told me that when he was in line today at one point he saw broken barricades or whatever they are called. And he thinks that people were getting into the lines and cutting him and many others off.

That sure was a disappointment, I hope he can see it at the National Mall. Perhaps just a sports bar with big screens used for football might be the order,

I doubt there was anything there. He tried to go to Capital Arena again but couldn’t get in. At least he didn’t stay in line as long as yesterday.

It is a much different experience being there as opposed to watching it on TV. I heard many with actual tickets couldn’t get in to the Capitol to watch the inauguration because there were only so many people that could be inside.

There was limited space available. They moved it inside because of the cold and security reasons. It is easier to protect someone in a limited space than it is with the whole outdoors. I think they searched the ones that got in. Some of those politicians need to search their hearts.

I had two of my employees take off work a couple of days to attend the inauguration. Both should be back to work on Wednesday (weather permitting), so I’ll hear how their trip went then, and whether or not they were able to get into any of the events.

Because the whole thing moved indoors many people that had actual tickets to attend the inauguration weren’t able to get in. There are only so many people that can fit inside. I wonder how they determined who gets in and who doesn’t.
