Which is the better choice: one long vacation or multiple short ones in a year?

Some of my friends have already started planning for summer vacations. Interestingly most are looking forward to 2-week vacation. A long vacation helps us to escape our daily stress and unwind completely and go for full immersion with the destination.
However, one of the them is planning for multiple short vacations in this year. He states this will help in avoiding burnout and maintain a work life balance. He says it will allow him to explore multiple destinations and the costs can be spread and are better manageable. Plus, the planning will be considerably less.
So do you prefer a long vacation or multiple short ones in a year?

When I still worked, I took several shorter vacations during the year. Most places I was interested in going on vacation were only a couple of hours drive from my house so I could go, explore whatever caught my attention in that area and then come home again rested and relaxed and ready to go back to work.
The only time I ever left US soil, I was just going into Mexico to check on a friend and ended up bringing him back to the US with me. (Legally, of course.) He was born in the US but his parents had moved back to Mexico when my friend was 17. He wanted to come back to the US but couldn't afford the trip. I could afford it so went and brought him back. It was a nice vacation for me and, I think, the longest vacation I ever took.

George and I do staycations. Where we stay close to home. And we find breaking them up for certain events and times makes it all worth it.

I prefer multiple short vacations and trips. I get anxious if I am away from my home for too long. I like a lot of breaks in the year.

I don't really do vacations unless is a family vacation. I am more into having my "me time" every week -- if my budget will allow me, in a coffee shop, reading or writing.
