20 January - What I'm Thankful for Today

Good evening from a cold and getting colder Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. Our overnight windchills will hit -45 F. That's only the windchill not the actual air temp. Air temp will reach -13F. Temps won't break before Wednesday. I typically turn the heat down to 70 at night and I will tonight too. I know with as cold as it will get, the furnace will run all night. So, what am I thankful for today? I decided I'm going to flip my apartment around. I started in the kitchen this morning. A neighbor gave me a footstool this morning. Only a one step with a handle on it. It's perfect. I could get into cupboards I haven't been able to reach in three years. I have one of those filled. The one above the microwave. I also put something in the one above the fridge. I'm thankful for a more organized kitchen. I also moved things on the counters to better make use of the counters. That's how I spent the morning when I couldn't get onto the site. I don't know when the site came back, but I'm glad it did. I'm thankful I could watch my friend's dog Sammy today when she needed to go to a doctor's appointment. I had him here for two hours. He barked, but he calmed down and behaved himself. I'm thankful for the time my neighbor and I spent together watching our shows tonight after she went out to start her car. She needs to go to her sister's tomorrow. The two shows we watch are really heating up. I know one of them is going to come to an end soon as the season ends and then we'll need to wait until season seven comes out. That's going to be a hard wait. The other show we're watching we saw together a couple of months ago. She wanted to see it again as she really liked it. I'm seeing things I didn't see the first two times I saw it. Okay, that's my day. Between the kitchen and my friend coming over, I watched the inauguration. What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. A sunset.

Sounds like a full day there. That cold just sounds crazy...I can't imagine that. We're freezing with it being at 13 degrees above 0. Very nice sunset photo

Yes, it was a full day. I agree. The temps are crazy. It's below zero right now with windchills in the double digits. I'm not going out.

@just4him Well long as you enjoy that, then that is good. Sounds like our usual winters being that cold. We're actually up to 17 degrees and feels like 6, wow a heat wave lol. Understand not going out in that cold there.

Sammy can't be left alone and with these cold temps, she can't take him with her as she does when the temps are more reasonable. I don't mind.

We get like that from time to time, when things just NEED to be tackled to be reorganized, and every time we do it, we feel refreshed. Of course, it never stays that way.

No, it won't stay that way, but I think the kitchen will. I made better use of the counter space. Now to start in the living room.

@porwest I have a lot of flat surfaces in the apartment. They're all covered with knickknacks.

@just4him We have a flat surface problem in the house. We get it cleared and always say, "Now, let's keep it that way." We never keep it that way. lol

Your temps there are insane! I wouldn't be able to deal with that. I am thankful that it is relatively warm in the house despite the outside temps being low. I don't know exactly how much but probably in the teens now. I think we have a high of 26. My heat pump doesn't do well in extreme temps so that is why it is only 63 in the house. Good idea to make it so you can reach the higher cabinets.

I know. It will warm up tomorrow and we might get snow. I hope so. I'm sorry it's so cold in the house. Thank you. I'm glad my friend gave it to me. He said if I didn't want it, he would put it downstairs for the give and take table.

I'm thankful the day went as smoothly as it has. George and I had a good day. He let me clean his stoma. Still looks red, but he's getting better.

That step stool will certainly come in handy. Both the cabinet over the microwave and the fridge are two that are impossible to reach. I have the same problem. Rearranging your kitchen will certainly be great when it's done. Glad you had a good day and Sammy behaved. I'm very thankful I don't' have to go anywhere in this frigid weather.

Yes, it has come in handy. I have a step stool, but this one is even better. The kitchen is done. Now, onto the living room. I also need to call Habitat for Humanity to pick up a couple of pieces of furniture I'm getting rid of. It's time. I'm getting rid of the organ and my dining room table. I'm looking for a new table. The organ is more sentimental than anything. It belonged to my grandmother. However, it needs restoration badly. The table belonged to my parents. I simply don't want it. Okay, it has issues. I need to put cardboard under two legs to stabilize it. Time to go. The real work is in the living room. I'm going to flip it around. That means clearing out the bookshelves and the entertainment center. I'll also need to take all the clothes out of the window-seat couch so I can move it. Then there's moving the computer desk to the opposite side of the room. Yeah, lots of work, but it will be nice when it's finished.

I use a stepstool to get to the top shelf of the kitchen cabinets. I am thankful that I had alot of computer work yesterday and I worked on my best friend's diamond painting.

I am grateful to be calm after hearing a potential layoff news. Thats the worst thing that could happen to me right now. I was busy for most of the day with work and meetings. I am grateful I am looking at new side hustles to be engaged and make some side income. It will be benefical to close the debts. I am grateful I did not wake up late unlike yesterday (my alarm did not work) . I am grateful to have had donuts after a long time. I enjoyed them and well had them in moderation. Well, good to know Sammy was calm after sometime. I saw highlights of the inauguration. You have a great day ahead!
