I Have Filed My Travel Insurance Claim For My Cancelled Japan Trip

My friend and I just spent 45 minutes on the phone walking through each screen on the computer to file our separate claims for reimbursement for our travel expenses, cruise fees, and airfare for the Japan trip that got cancelled due to plane maintenance malfunction. It's a pretty significant amount. I've already received $795 from Norwegian Cruise Lines for the cancelled shore excursions. They owe me a couple hundred more for prepaid internet and taxes and port charges. They won't reimburse the cruise fare. I've received refunds on the unused upgrades we paid for from United Airlines. they won't reimburse for the airfare. So the bulk will be coming from the Travel Insurance Company and they're usually pretty prompt. Their email indicates they're supposed to resolve it within 10-15 days.

I’m glad you had the insurance and are getting refunded some of the money. I know you’d rather have had the trip.

Great that all of those would be covered

Did you cancel this trip or did they? It might make a difference in how much you get back.

@LooeyVille I don't know what it is with the airlines. They seem to have no regard for messing up people's plans. Sorry it happened to you.

@LooeyVille It's a good thing you have travel insurance. It would be a disaster if you lost all that money because of something you have no control over.
