Spring Forward, Fall Back

I'm sure you all remember this each and every year. Daylight Saving Time(DST) starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday of November. It was first introduced in the US in 1918 with the Standard Time Act. It was meant to lower fuel costs during World War I. This law also established a standard time and also allowed the federal government to create five time zones.
The Department of Transportation feels that DST saves energy, prevents traffic injuries, and reduces crime. Some experts also feel that more daylight helps with mental health.
I am wondering if the DST is still needed. Does it still perform what it was set up to do? Donald Trump and Elon Musk both support abolishing DST. I tend to agree although I wonder if abolishing it would mess up the 5 time zones.
DST starts up again at 2a. on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
Your thoughts.

A bill to abolish the daylight savings time change has already been through the Senete I believe and now the house needs to voite. Studities have shown that changing the time twice a year actually makes things more dangerous and no longer does what it was designed for. But of course congress is more worried about banning titock then daylight savings time so... I guess it's here to stay.

I agree with the findings you mention. Makes much more sense. I thought I had heard that it didn't pass this last time. TikTok is a good one to get banned. We don't need China to have this opportunity.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: I think the time should be adjusted just HALF an hour, and then leave it forever more.

I would like to keep daylight saving hours for now even though when I lived in Panama from 1961-1978, there was no daylight saving hours throughout the year and it did not feel awkward at all.
