Getting Glasses

Yesterday I went to the eye doctor for the first time in about 30 years and well I need glasses. I knew for a few years that my eyes were getting worse, and I guess I was in denial. I never wore glasses even though everyone in my family has for most of their lives. I didn’t know glasses cost so much; good thing is the insurance is picking up a big chunk of it. This if not something I was planning to pay for, but I guess I should have known it was coming. It’s going to be weird to wear glasses all the time. I mean I always wear sunglasses. Well not at night but even on a cloudy day I wear them a lot. I just don’t like the brightness. I guess I will get use to them after a while. Hope you are all doing well.

I just got my first pair of glasses last week. Like you, I've gone my whole life without needing glasses. I was worried that it would be a hard transition for me to wear them all the time, but so far I've had no issues whatsoever. I'm just so happy to see everything with clarity now that I sometimes forget that I even have my glasses on.

@id_peace Oh yes, I loved them from the moment I first put them on. I don't even notice I am wearing them most of the time.

I started wearing glasses when I drive about 20 or so years ago. I don't mind not seeing everything and don't like wearing my glasses at home. (I'm nearsighted.) I wear sunglasses most of the time. My eyes are light sensitive. Bright lights/sunlight hurts. Good luck with your glasses.

It is really interesting that the insurances would pick up the bill for your glasses. In my country, we have to pay for our glasses out of our own pocket.

@Bensen32 Ah I see. Do they also cover claims in the event your glasses broke or misplaced?

well it is an option for some people to have vision insurance. I knew I would have to get my eyes checked so I took the option to have vision insurance.

@id_peace no, the insurance does not. just saves you on the exam and on the first purchase price.

I am recovering my last few days of cold weather due to a winter storm named Enzo coming the southern states of Texas that went to Florida with the sun shining to melt the snow on the roads in Lake Charles since Monday overnight.

i think you will need some time to adjust and if you face a little headache, that's normal too. yes, glasses are very expensive, not fair (coming from someone who wears glasses since age of 17)

I can't remember when I started having to wear glasses. I used to hate it, but now I'm fine with wearing them. My eyesight hasn't changed yet. But my new eye doctor says that my eyesight might changed this year with me turning 45 this year.

Well, I was also in that denial when I was pushed by my dad to go to an eye doctor. Well, we know when we cannot see things clear and especially when we sit in front of the TV or laptop for long time. Glasses do cost much. I used to have one for home which was less costly and one for outside . This helped to push the durability since you have to wear almost all the time. Years later , I took Lasik and well it was tough initially but then all fine. If you are using the laptop a lot , suggest anti-glare glasses for use.It helps to protect eyes better. Luckily you have the insurance and that helps a lot. Take care!
