Sales people really don't know the meaning of 'no'.

As the title implies, we had sales people at our door. They had seen our solar pannals, and wanted to sell us more under the assumption that more is better and that more would eleminate our eletric bill. Nope. That's not how that works. I'm not stupid. Has solar reduced our eletric bill? Hell yeah. Get rid of it completely? Nope. Not how that works. Yes, the solar pannals do put energy back into the grid to use at night and reduce costs, but the sun is only out so many hours in a day. More pannals won't change it. Would more pannals possibly lower the bill, maybe. But not necessarilly. The sun would hit the roof the same and I can see in real-time what pannals are getting sun and how much heach is able to produce. I can also see in real time, what's feeding what where through the enphase app. I also know the more energy you consume in a day the harder everything works. Florida has experienced colder-than usual temps over the past couple of weeks. Which has required our heater to run more frequently.

Did you see the news? Folks in the Florida Panhandle got 10 inches of snow, Just hanging in there until the sun warms me up. I hope you both have a good evening and stay warm,

@RasmaSandra North Florida and The Panhandle see winter weather more often. In fact when I grew up in St. Augustine, We had freezes on the regular. Daytona was spared so far this season, but we get freeze warnings here, too. It’s cold enough to need and have winter weather.

I am sorry about that, I also handled sales back in 2005. We pitch in sales over phone. As we are required to rebutt to customers ' hesitation, we push for a yes. But my approach was different that time. If customer says no twice to my pitch, I stop from there. I was not the "no-for-an-answer" sales rep.

Glad to hear it. If I say no to something and they still push and push, it just makes me more determined.

My hubby the engineer insisted we have solar panels installed on our roof. I hope the sales folks don't come bothering you again.

I'm glad we do have solar, and battery backup. It allows us to save on power and have power when the grid goes down. Due to the cold we've been getting storm alerts right and left. So having full battery is a good thing. But, that's a bold claim to say solar technology has advanced to the point that it'll will reases the eletric bill.

That's funny. I'm obviously not a born salesperson, if I saw a house with panels on the roof I would assume they were sorted and didn't need more!

Hope you both are able to hang well in the cold conditions and Snow. Looks like the Sales person either did not know much about what they are selling or they were looking to scam people. And this is the worst time to sell any solar panels in Florida with all snow and less sunshine. Solars are great to reduce electricity but then more solar panels would not make a major difference . Good thing you were able to handle them. Sometimes, people do get pressurised by words and decide to go for the things sales person is trying to convince. A disaster recipe. Take care!

First of all The snow only hit the North and West side of the state. I live in what's known as Central Florida. We did not get snow. We didn't even get below freezing.Do not get me wrong. Temps are colder then normal for this time of year. 48 with a windchill factor of 11, is no joke. It's crazy. And, you're right. promising to elemate eletric cots completely. that's not realistic. We still depend on the grid. I'm not an idiot. I've got bills to pay. I am not buying more solar pannals.
