Some People Really Shouldn't Talk Politics

My political views differ from several of my girlfriends' views. We choose to not talk politics for the most part. But when we do, it's not with emotion but with facts and principles.
Sadly, some people online are vehemently espousing their ignorant views about the newly elected U.S. President not based on anything he has or hasn't done, my God he's only been in office two days, but based on their own uninformed, unintelligent, EMOTIONAL views of something they're getting from sound bytes and their union leaders.
I get it, Trump isn't everyone's cup of tea. But these are the same people who vehemently cried foul when others denounced Obama as "their President" and said you have to respect the office even if the candidate isn't the one you chose. But sadly they can't seem to do that when the shoe's on the other foot.
I don't even mind a good political debate and sharing of opposing views. But when people online just constantly bash the sitting U.S. President over things that the people in their own political party are doing 100x worse, then it shows their stubbornness and their ignorance.
A case in point:
Biden pardoned 4.2 thousand people. That's 10's of times more than usual and more than any other president in history. He pardoned family members as well as their spouses pre-emptively. What's he afraid of? Oh wait, a political witch hunt like the one Trump's been enduring the last four years? In comparison the father and son Bush Presidents in total only pardoned 277 people between them. Online people are saying "Trump pardoned Jan 6th people!" Okay, they were guilty of trespassing at best. Biden pardoned murderers and drug dealers.
I'm not here to promote my views, although they are obvious, but to just state that while everybody has a right to their opinion, they should be able to substantiate and articulate those positions and beliefs without name-calling and negativity about the other party and the views of the other party's followers.
Like I said in the title, some people really shouldn't talk politics.

Very well stated, Lou. I know he's not perfect, but I feel some pride and hope for our country that I haven't felt in a long time.

The thing is, I had my issues with Biden. But it was always on policy, and when I argued against his policies, it was based on the policies themselves, not based on who set them. The fact that Democrats are reacting and responding to this election is part and parcel to why they lost. They missed the part about listening to the American people. Instead, they only listened to THEMSELVES and to THEIR wants and desires. The American people were a second thought, and the American people saw that and understood that.
At the end of the day I do believe Trump will have a successful four years. But there's one thing I also believe, and that is that no matter what or how much Trump accomplishes, the left will deny all of it. I mean, look at how they are looking back at Biden's four years. How can ANYONE with a straight face say, "Wow, what an amazing presidency?" It defies logic, and because the left cannot process logic, they will continue to miss the point.
I think the thing to watch will be the midterms in 2026. If the Democrats don't get it by then, the devastating loss they had in 2024 may pale in comparison to what's coming next.
As I have become fond of saying, "If you don't know why you lost, you can't know why you weren't winning." Unless they FULLY grasp why Trump won and start listening to the American people, their party will be condemned to lose more and more faith and support by the public at large.

You can see the tide turning just since he won the election. DEI initiatives are going away in major companies. Celebrities aren't afraid to say they're conversative. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. No matter how you feel about Trump the man, his last term was excellent and his policies are on point and he did nothing short of making our country and our economy stronger. Poor Jimmy Carter finally lived long enough to see somebody take over his reign as worst president in history with Biden.
Here's a clip my husband sent me because he knows I LOVE rap music. It's hilarious!

@LooeyVille I am actually refreshed to see things happening as fast as they are. I think it shows the reality of how much the media was leading the narrative, which completely defied the ACTUAL sentiment of the American people. The media wanted to portray Trump as evil bad, and more than that, went to great efforts to TRY to make it seem like they were reflecting the sentiment of the vast majority of Americans.
Of course, we see now, and quite clearly, that wasn't the case. Now they are scrambling. Their mad. Their defiant. They're like kids who got denied their day at the park. They can't handle it, and yet at the same time they are doubling down on the very antics and attitudes that thrust Trump upward and sent Democrats packing.
It is ALSO a defining moment that shows, all the more clearly, the Democrats NEVER gave a damn about America or American interests by the American people. They did not want to honor the country and Her values, they wanted to CHANGE it.
I think to say we literally dodged a bullet here is NOT at all overstating. As for the video, LOVED it. lol
