Like everyone at work is on Wegovy and whatever the new weight-loss shot is

It is a well-known fact even if they don't admit to it. It is so obvious when people are now looking sickly thin as opposed to what they looked like a year or 2 ago. The insurance company tried to crack down on approving it since like EVERYONE is using it but that seems to have failed. My work bestie was approved for whatever the new one is. She agrees that coworkers look unhealthy so she wants to use it to get to a reasonable weight and then just continue healthy habits. Hey whatever. Some people try to lose weight with surgery like lap-band, gastric bypass, or somehow getting rid of most of their stomach. Some starve themselves. Some just watch what they put in their mouth and go to the gym. I used to be very heavy but now I'm sitting pretty at between 165 and 170 pounds. It works and my pants are a size 12. My ex keeps saying that I'm too thin but I'm good with it. I lost the weight by changing my diet and regular serious workouts at the gym. If somehow I gained a bunch of weight again. . . I'd go back to the gym. Those shots do not interest me in the least. In any case the increased use of those shots is going to jack up the price of my health insurance and that will increase the % I have to contribute. Ugh.

My nephew had the gastric banding and has never been truly well since. It's been an ongoing nightmare for him.

I have a good friend who had a gastric bypass about ten years ago. She has had nothing but problems and terrible digestive issues. She did not gain any weight at all afterwards, she can barely eat. I think she’s had three more surgeries to try to fix the mess but nothing seems to help. She weighs 98 pounds and has aged so badly, is always sick.

None of those cures deal with the emotional reasons behind being large. None of them deal with teaching people to cope with all the gigantic offerings of crud in grocery stores.

Losing weight and keeping it off is something that doesn't work with a shot or a pill or an operation. It has to happen with a lifestyle change, making better choices, setting limits on food intake, and the person needs to be committed to change. I know this from my own journey, fad diets do not work. I would never try shots, etc. I lost the extra and it took determination and changing what I bought, how I cooked, and what choices I make. I've kept the weight off...it took me a long time to figure this out!
