2 more days of school being closed

Yesterday and today they had to cancel school . It’s been so cold out that our districts buses won’t start/stay running. My little one and I popped over to the thrift store my daughter works at to see what was new. It being so cold they only made $50 the whole day so they decided to stay closed the following day as well. My dad had another spot of skin cancer. A spot below his ear that kept bleeding. They had to go quite deep to get it all removed and had to do plastic surgery there. It was over 6 hours he lay there while they worked on him and the lidocaine caused him to shake. I received a Yule Tale in the mail from @sallypup. My little one helped me open it today. I intended to read it together but it was a busy day so we will do that tomorrow. I was so excited to receive it and admire the artwork. You can see it in the photo I shared which I have permission to post. Today my oldest daughter invited my little one and I down to her house. We had a nice time and then my daughter lets us know when it’s time to go. She can only handle the noise and busyness of my little one for about an hour. I asked her if she and her boyfriend would like to come for dinner at our house but her boyfriend didn’t want to do we will do it another time.

You and your youngest daughter should go out and build a snowman and share the picture of it on myLot. The kids will be making up several days at the end of school this year. I always hated it when they had to extend school into our Summer break.

@Daddyevil I hate the snow I stay inside and my husband takes her out. He hates the heat so I take her out then. It works out. They should do virtual on the days that were cancelled here I’m not sure why they didn’t.

@DaddyEvil gosh that would have been really hard for you in the summer then. I’m glad things are normal now with the medicine. My dad used to be hot all the time but his blood pressure medicine makes him cold.

@shaggin I used to prefer cold weather and would go out without a coat. (I had Graves' Disease so was always too hot when everyone else was comfortable. I still have Graves' Disease but medication lets me be comfortable in normal temps now.) I get cold just like everyone else. I agree, they should have virtual school when it's too cold for the buses to run. Since I don't know anyone in school now, I have no idea what they do here.

@kaylachan it’s better today it’s up to 20°F. School was able to resume. I’ll be glad when it’s at least 60°F again but even better when it’s 80°F.

@allknowing it’s better that she let’s us know when she’s had enough company then for her to start having a panic attack because she gets too overwhelmed.

Snow days! It's time for you to make some sugar cookies. I'm glad you are enjoying the Tale. Your little one sounds like a joyous and active little bee.

@sallypup you know I’ve never been able to make sugar cookies that tasted good so I gave up a few years ago. My little one is a very happy go lucky kid. Loves to meet people and talk. I just read the Yule Tale today I loved it! I enjoyed it even more than last year. Amazing job to you on writing it and incredible job to your daughter on the illustrations. The page with the black cat and the big basket of yarn was my favorite of her drawings. I was at the end wondering if that kindness would last past the holiday and if Mrs. B and the other woman will put their past behind them and become friends.

@shaggin Good question about Mrs. B. I like to leave questions at the ends of stories. Life is like that: you never know. Thanks for the good observations and compliments.

@Judyev I loved it! She was a bit to busy to sit still long enough for it. She’s used to books with lots of colors I think.

We have been lucky so far, only three days of cancelled school, plus one inservice. I hope they do not have us make the inservice up. You seem to have had some good family time in the cold.

@GardenGerty thet have three days they are making up now. I believe they do a certain amount of make up days then turn virtual for any snow days after that.

A Yule Tale, now that’s special! I’m glad they got all the skin cancer from your dad. Six hours is such a long time.

@AmbiePam they do layers and test it and have to keep cutting more out until it’s all completely gone. It was a long process. He is doing good now though. Got his bandages off tonight.

Nice you got to spend some time at your daughter's place. I hope everything is OK with your dad. My dad had a couple of bouts with skin cancer, but it wasn't too serious Thankfully.

@snowy22315 seems most kinds you can cut out and be okay. My father has quite a few spots removed the past few years.

@grenery8 they say they got all the cancer out so that is wonderful and I just hope no more spots appear. He’s had to have spots out many times now.
