A new fun student.

She has blonde hair (rare in the Bay Area, unless it's fake), and said hair is always messy. She is taking piano with me. She is 7-years-old and in first or second grade. She can barely read music but we're already working on Beethoven's Fur Elise. But what really excited her today was when I knew a Green Day song she wanted to learn. We worked on that song, and she has vowed to learn the lyrics. Her daddy is a drummer, and her brother (perhaps one year older) is currently taking guitar with my friend and colleague, Sevrin. Future YouTube stars? All in all, I had twelve students today. It was exhausting, but a good time. Did I miss any interesting news today? I hear there is a new fire North of LA. That's all I know.

This old fart likes keeping busy. If you still had your ranch, I'd be there helping clear brush, setting up the stage for music events, and taking care of Herc's grand kids.

@TheHorse ........Sounds like you have quite a few cuties that you are giving lessons. I played the piano when I was about 10 or 11. Had lessons for awhile.

Many were among my favorites, though. I had a good day with Gunnar (a make-up lesson), my red-headed electric guitar student. And of course there was Alee, who gave me the turtle.

All of the literal fires are 400 miles Sounth of me. But I hope I can keep "lighting a fire" in this little girl. She's very focused.

@changjiangzhibin89 After we're done with Fur Elise, I hope we can work on a couple of "fun kid tunes." I don't want her to be "too serious." The Green Day tune might be just the thing.

How wonderful a Guitar Center post! I was taught the Fur Elise but got so frustrated with that piece I went out and bought my first sheet music it was Yesterday by The Beatles
