How does this relate to Trump being elected US president ?

When Donald Trump was elected President of the United States (US) in 2016, many predicted that there would be major changes in economic policy, both domestically and abroad, including in Indonesia.
Likewise in the 2024 election, when Trump won over his rival Kamala Harris by winning around 50.9 percent of the vote.
Trump's policies, especially those prioritizing a protectionist approach, appear to be an initial challenge for many developing countries.
Trump, as before, is also expected to bring a new direction to world economic policy.
What do you think?

I think this post is far to short and might get deleted. You need to post at least three full lines in the discription portion of the discussion box for it to count as a discussion. Addationally, if you took the time to read the political posts around here, you'd see how vocal members are about it.

If I was an incoming US president and I wanted to drive my country into poverty, I'd be doing what Trump's doing. The tarrif's he's threatening will drive prices up, and probably close down a lot of US businesses by making it too expensive to import parts and other necessary supplies.
We're already hearing about ICE raids disrupting small and medium size businesses by detaining members of their workforce who they claim to suspect are there illegally.
Trump's crazy imperialist threats agains Greenland, Canada and Panama is bound to cripple arms exports, which is currently a big chunk of the American economy. Who's going to want to buy weapons from a potential adversary?
All of this adds up to a recession coming in the near future. An artificial, totally unnecessary recession. And probably one that's being deliberately engineered. Because Trump and the people who control him must know that these policies will cripple the American economy. But if you're super-rich you can make money out of recessions, especially if you know in advance that they're coming. Trump, the Heritage Foundation, Elon Musk and all the other swamp-dwellers are quite happy to line their own pockets at the expense of their countrymen.
The good news is that the rest of the world won't feel the effects as badly as America. The war in Ukraine has had European countries looking into ramping up arms production anyway, the effective loss of America as an ally will just give a bit more impetus to that process. Canada can find plenty of alternative markets for the goods and raw materials that it exxports to the US, albeit not as handy. Same thing with Mexico. Europe as a whole is an economic superpower. It's good to have the US as a market, but they're not indispensible to anyone.
So the short version of all that is America's stuffed, but the rest of us will be OK.

Hum?
I read between the lines of
everything you said & that's with ANY gov't
I know when Trump was in office we didn't
have millions of illegal immigrants coming
in like Biden did, we didn't have millions of
illegal immigrants killing & rapping people &
taking ALL our resources in hosp's & schools
Taking OUR tax $ to support them BETTER
than Americans, & the tariffs he's talking about
is the same 1's he did last time & things were
good, jobs created, cheaper food & gas, no wars.
he never took a president pay & what he DID DO
is he donated his OWN $ To help people in need
& right now with as many people right now in need
from the floods fires & hurricanes & tomato's there's
BILLIONS of people in need right now & if you
were paying attention to what Biden was doing
to "help" Americans he was more into breaking
America to our knees I thank God He's GONE.

@2ndchances24 Millions of illegal immigrants raping and murdering people? In which alternate reality is this taking place? No wars? Are you having a laugh? There's never been a time in history when there were no wars going on. And do you think expressing territorial ambitions against America's own allies is going to do anything for peace?
Trump's only interest is in himself. Look at the way he fleeces his own supporters, flogging them everything he can think of from tasteless shoes to that memecoin.
He's a grifter, and a pretty unintelligent one. Which probably makes him the ideal glove puppet for his controllers in the Heritage Foundation. Good luck surviving the next few years.
