23 January - What I'm Thankful for Today

Good evening from another cold evening in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. At least the air temp is above zero F. It's 10 F and feels like -9.
I'm always thankful in case you didn't know that. This is what I'm thankful for today.
I'm thankful I went to the store this morning. We went to Wal-Mart. My neighbor likes that store. And then we went to the grocery store. I have a few groceries, including bananas. An absolute must. I got a couple of things at Wal-Mart, too.
I'm thankful for Canasta today. We were only six, so we played the funner version we made up last year. My team won both games.
I'm thankful the living room is now finished. I forgot to look for frames when I was in Wal-Mart, but it can wait.
I'm thankful for the snow. It snowed last night and with the temps as cold as they are, it's not melting. I think Mother Nature took pity on us and gave us a dusting. The south has more snow than we do.
I'm thankful I have all my steps. It was easy to get them with all the walking around the stores I did. I didn't need to do much walking in the halls.
Okay, now for an update regarding the fire alarms. Yes, plural. There was another one last night. I slept through that one. I heard it and thought I was dreaming and went back into a deep sleep. Nothing penetrated with as tired as I was.
Tuesday night/Wednesday morning the smoke filled the hallway near the entrance. One resident burned popcorn in the microwave. Instead of opening the patio door, she opened the hallway door and set off the alarms. It took an hour for the fire department to get the alarms shut off because they didn't have the code.
This situation also turns out to be a thankful one.
1. No one was hurt, and we didn't need to evacuate the building.
2. No fire.
3. Because of the alarms, the fire department found we have a non-operative sprinkler system. It will need to be fixed as soon as possible.
Because of this situation, all the fire doors in the building are closed. They also tested the system this morning, which is when they put notices on all entry doors about the non-operative sprinkler system and the fire doors are closed.
What are you thankful for today? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. My living room as it is now.

I'm so happy for you. I am glad you have snow to enjoy that'll stick around for a while. No snow here, which I'm thankful for. Which is good because George has no desire to move.

Thank you. I love it. I still try heading to the opposite side for the computer, but seeing it where it now is, gets me going in the right direction. It's so much better. I don't have the sun shining on the television anymore in the late afternoon.

Well, it was a blessing in disguise. Now the fire department could fix the system and be ready in case of a real issue. So perhaps that was a good thing to happen , although no so convenient. I had a busy day and I am grateful to be alerted of a possible layoff situation. Was not really prepared for it at this point of time but then its headsup and trying to see what can be done. I am also grateful for a friend who called after a long gap and it was nice reconnecting. I was able to volunteer for a few tasks at office and well need to get those closed in coming days. Looks you had a good day. Have a wonderful day ahead.
