The plans for today went by the wayside.

My son had a Dr. appointment Monday with his new neurologist. He was looking forward to it, but it got moved to this afternoon. That was fine, not long to wait, no problem.
It started snowing off and on about 5AM this morning. Then we had some wild snow squalls and they really snarled up traffic and the roads were terrible. It is 12 miles there to the medical building that the office is in, so I was thinking of calling them when they called and said they had so many cancellations due to the roads being snarly, that they were going to close, so now the appointment is Monday.
Supposedly we will get no snow for the next week, so Monday should be good. Son was disappointed but he was OK with it when he looked outside and saw the driveway and the road, so Monday it is. We just can't control the weather, even though we wish we could.
If it hadn't been windy, I think it would have been fine, but the wind blew the snow everywhere for most of the day, so I guess it was a good thing we stayed home. It's extremely cold here, currently 8 degrees, and tonight will be around zero.
Do your plans get changed sometimes by snow and ice like ours do?

Oh, yes, I’ve stayed home much of the last three weeks because of ice and snow. I canceled an appointment at the VA because of it, too (not nearly as important as your son’s appointment, though): very narrow, winding, and steep road up to the hospital. As it turns out, the VA canceled most appointments that day.

I would have canceled that appointment as well. My son made the comment that he wasn’t worried about my driving there, but he did worry about how many of the other drivers were driving so fast—the part of I-57 we take to get there was laced with cars in ditches and people driving way too fast. So many people just won’t slow down when our roads are snowy and icy.

No. It rarely snows in my corner of Florida. But, plans can change if its to hot or cold out all the same. As I mentioned in a discussion I posted earlier, George hasn't stepped outside in days due to the cold. Thankfully we have no appoitments until next month.

Most of the time, I have no choice, I have to get out for one reason or another. It's been extremely cold here.

@MarieCoyle I try not to change it too much unless it had no impact to the rest of the days or even weeks.

@MarieCoyle I like the rain over snow.

I admit I really do like snow. I don't like ice. I also like a good hard rain to cool things down in the summer, too.

My sister lived in Portland for a long time, so I visited her there quite often back then. I was amazed that it rained every single day...drizzle, depressing rain. I wanted it to just pour and get it over with! But it was a beautiful place to visit, and we had nice times together there. I treasure those memories.

I’m sorry he has to wait until Monday, but boy it would have been upsetting to get out and take a fall. It must be my age because I’m more conscious than ever about any conditions that might make a person do that. Hopefully, the appointment Monday will be fruitful. A brand new neurologist may be just what he needs.

He falls easily. I don’t think I could get him up from an icy patch without tumbling down next to him, as he is over six foot tall and I know I can’t lift him. So I do everything I can to keep him from falling. I am very hopeful this new neurologist will be a help to him. Thank you, Amber.

Just as well, right . . . you would be safe and not have to deal with driving in crazy weather. Generally weather does not stop us here, but we don't have those snow and ice conditions. Hope all goes well with your son's appointment next week!

Luckily, we did not need anything and so didn't have to get out. I love those days, and we just don't have enough of them.

Not here in Florida except for this winter and the people who did get snow and everything stopped, I do believe that this summer when the temps go way high I will stand in the sun and let all that heat get into my bones,

I don't really enjoy Florida in the summertime...it's just way too hot. I prefer to go in the spring and fall, or over Christmas with the family. It gets very hot here in the summer, too, and I just don't like to be really hot.

I know this is going to sound weird...but I actually LIKE snow days, when it's snowing and slippery and we have to stay home. I think it's because my life is more hectic than I need it to be, and having a day or two at home is very nice and peaceful. We are safe, thank you, and I am glad of it.

Plans often get altered or changed because life is just that way. We have to be flexible.

I agree, sometimes being flexible isn't much fun, is it?
