Another new debit card

It's a good thing I check our bank account on line. Yesterday I saw I had been charged $29.95 for a French tutoring course. My granddaughter loves the French language and French food, but I don't care for either. My Credit Union is getting it straight, but of course I need a new debit card. Again. I can understand someone in Walmart getting my number, but I've done nothing that relates to French lessons. There was even a small international transaction fee! Oh, well, thank goodness it wasn't a huge amount and it's being taken off my account. Do you ever have fraudulent charges on your debit or credit card?

I had that happen to me one time a few years back, and my bank was able to fix everything for me immediately and issue me a new debit card.

That's what our Credit Union does, too.

@1creekgirl I rarely use my debit card these days, as I usually charge everything to my credit cards and then pay the balance off each month.

No, not yet. I hope it never happens to me. I'm glad the Credit Union is fixing things for you.

Only once. Bob is the one that checks the statements, and he had gotten a little lax. We had opened a second bank account at a credit union. Bob wanted to check the debit card and used it at a filling station. Evidently they had a skimmer on a pump or something because he got a recurring monthly charge. The credit union had us fill out paperwork and their fraud department took care of it and we were reimbursed.

Its happened, but not often with my bank account I had a couple of fraudulent charges on Paypal. That was a total pain in the neck.FYI I blame Temu for those.

I'm really leery of Temu after hearing things about it.

Yes, once on my credit card was a charge for expensive clothes at a shop two hours away from where I live, a store I would never have shopped at. Thank goodness after reporting it, the charge was removed. I forget exactly, but I think it was over 100 dollars.

It's happened to us several times over the years, but we were always reimbursed.

My credit card company caught a charge to Walmart that wasn’t mine. I was always at Walmart, but this Walmart visit took place in Arkansas, somewhere I haven’t been in ten years. I would never have looked past it being a Walmart charge, but my credit card company caught it. Saved me a little over 55 bucks. I’m sorry you had to deal with that. My sister and brother-in-law recently had someone use their debit card at a Walgreens in Oklahoma City. It was the third time in two years.

I hope they get reimbursed. We've had it happen to us through the years. It's good I check our online account...a couple of years ago some company kept changing their name, but it was always a $28 charge. Through lots of detective work, I found out it was the same thief. But it was a small enough charge that had slipped through three times without being a red flag.

I have been wrongly charged once and never got around to sorting it. Just lost the money. It wasn't a big amount so I let it go.

@1creekgirl indeed I am truly fortunate and that the banks in my country take serious view on that and educate everyone to call the bank immediately if we discover such transactions.

@1creekgirl the bank called me to confirm if the transaction was mine, when I told them it's not mine, they blocked my card and now I have a new one

$29 seems to be a frequent fraudulent charge for some reason. Did you get your money back?
