Future Forward February

Five days from here, it would be my two year anniversary with Goodwill. I had hopefully planned to leave next summer at the one-and-a-half year mark. It didn't happen, though I had started my job search at the same time. Now, it's six months later. I'm still itching to learn, waiting for the time to be right. Maybe next month... As for the job search, it had been a dry January with applying to at least eleven jobs so far. No interview requests. Just radio silence, other than Indeed notifications the job is closed or had expired on Indeed, whereas I follow up to check with them. I did get nothing back in return. And though I've applied to my dream job working at my local library for a circulation Clerk position a month ago, I've gotten nothing back from them, other than they're undecided on the position, still interviewing and going through resumes. Both Danielle and I have followed up with them, and had gotten crickets... except when she told me last week, she did hear back from her email, when the HR manager asked who her client was in response. Danielle told her my name and got nothing new in return. As for the second factor, my dad's survivor benefits I told you about in my last post. I've called last week and gotten no help from the National Social Security Administration office, other than the runaround and no call backs from the supervisor to look up my report. When I called this week and later called the local office, I've gotten a much better answer. Though I was supposed to get it at the end of the year and beginning of the year, when an agent told me last month, and it had came and went, I've found out they're backlogged. They're looking into seeing how far they could go on my father's side, up until April of last year, and if he had declared me as a dependent, though we've been estranged for 13 years until he died. So I should hear back from them in early February in a letter. And I've let my brother and Danielle know. This morning, I've received an email from Raenell, and Carole at OOD, who was referred to me to do a Benefits Analysis report on my father's survivor's benefits. I didn't contact Raenell, until I waited to let her know when I've heard back. Maybe Danielle contacted her after I called her earlier this week. Well, though the report have been done, a meeting would be arranged sometime next week or the following week to go over it, as long as it doesn't conflict with my work schedule. And when I know what it entails, I'll be happy to share what it entailed: continue to work with a limited work schedule (15 hours) or no work at all. Either way, this should be the ticket for me to prepare to leave Goodwill by March if not sooner.

Good luck and I hope you get the benefits. I thought you weren't going to work, but I suppose you need the benefits in order to do that.
