Time to reminisce

I found that this evening was a good time to reminisce about the good times. On this occasion it was regarding the local shops. A large supermarket has taken over the village, and it is quite frankly an eyesore. Instead of taking up a small but significant area in the village, it now commands the majority of the space. Dominating the area and competing with small businesses on all fronts. Clothing, cafe, lottery/cigarettes etc, and toys. Most of the local shops are struggling.
I loved the good old days. A small supermarket with a homely feel. Everyone knowing everyone and not many people from outside the area. How times have changed

I am fortunate. My little town has a pretty solid downtown core. I buy a lot of things online but I also buy things from the very nice man who sells honey from his downtown shop. There's an old fashioned hardware that is run by a Father and son team. My town's downtown keeps going due to its antiques and curiosity shops.

@Danielclark691 Thanks and agreed. There is a Walmart just the other side of downtown but I am not a fan. I like to speak with the folks running the place. The honey store guy is a Veteran. He helps other Vets in the community.

We do still have small stores and it is more important than ever to support them. I’m glad you do :)

I also miss the small supermarkets that used to be in the greater New Orleans area.

It is such a shame that big business has taken over and ripped the soul out of these communities
