In Marines, chow hall duty, its very honorable, to make you humble. To know where your brethren coming from. This is the problem with all of life. Its holidays and one drill instructor is being like dude eat some candies and be yourself for a minute. Then next drill instructor starts yelling what in the hell is going on and why you stealing candy. The only way I could do it is sell out my one homie to save everyone. But I did not sell him out. I went to the drill instructor who said we could. Sir. point of the story my boot camp homie hated me but told him this guy coming for us. I knew he would handle it and he did. Yet , that fool would not talk to me again. Marines don't play, its part of the training. What did I learn. To be less honorable, not all, taught me to be more honorable. Pay attention, do what you have to but keep your morals. Not how they taught you but your parents. Know one till this day knows Marines teach that. Its ugly, but its neat as hell because you will cry.

Being a Marine was good for you. My one grandson wanted to be a marine but they would not let him choose what he wanted to do. So he went into the army instead. He has been in the army for 15 years and loves it.

@jstory07 Good for him, and trust me for most its a better choice. Marines need honorable psycho's to be honest. I am punk rock so could not break me, but why Marines actually like punk rock dudes. If they get captured, you cannot break them. Anyway. people try to be smarter and better is way country has always been. lets hope we get back to that. Thank your son, I was in National Guard after Marines for a minute an so neat to just see honorable people trying to help their country. Army base next to us an its just neat how they try to protect this country.
