Birthday Dinner.

Later tonight we will have a birthday dinner at a buffet restaurant with my parents inlaws, SIL and my sister with their family. This is to celebrate the birthdays of my son and daughter but more of my the 18th birthday of my daughter. I would love to have it here at home but I do the math. With less effort meaning no cooking, washing and cleaning, the dinner is just a bit expensive. Just a bit. Do you prefer celebration at home or at a restaurant?

I was sure your kids' grandparents would want to celebrate their birthdays with them. I hope you enjoyed visiting with them, even if it was a bit expensive. If I'm the one who is doing the cooking and cleaning after the celebration, I'd rather take them out to eat. Used to, I'd do the cooking and we'd celebrate at my house. (I'm older now and not as willing to do that much work to make others happy. )

@rakski That's how I am, too. I was always exhausted by the time everyone left and I started cleaning.

@DaddyEvil yes, that's the one thing I don't like when we celebrate at home. The past years, my house has always been the 'events place' for the family. Not that big number, maybe 8-10. Sometimes even if we just bought takeouts or have them deliver, the preparation and the after care are tiring

I do prefer to celebrate in a restaurant. I do hope that you would enjoy your buffet later. i had mine two days ago, it was not that fantastic.

@rakski I didn’t quite enjoy my buffet the last round. The seafood was not exactly fresh and slightly stink up the whole place

We did enjoy. It is a bit expensive but they also have promo that I was able to avail. For every 10 person, we have two free and we are 13, so we only paid for 11

That's true. What's difficult for us celebrating at home is the post party after care

I prefer to celebrate my birthday at home. All my birthdays have been celebrated at my home so far.

That's great. I also feel the same way but when they are here, it will be a whole day celebration and I have no one to help me with chores

@rakski I understand. I often forget my birthday. We have a big family. My cousins help my mother and my wife in celebrations. That's the reason why I celebrate my birthday at home.

Celebrating in restaurants means no cooking and cleaning up at home. This way you get more time with others to enjoy. While I like celebrating at home at times its nice to go out with family.

@rakski When my sister came to spend the day with me a few weeks back I ordered lunch from a good restaurant close by so that I don't spend time cooking and instead spent that time chit chatting with her.
