The Keyboard of a Three-Finger Typist

Searching for a writing topic for my next post, and I find it is right here in front of me: my keyboard. My laptop is now just about three years old, and it is one of my most treasured--and used!--possessions. I never learned to type properly, so I'm one of those "hunt-and-peck" people, relying mostly on two fingers of my right hand and one on my left, although sometimes I get fancy and utilize a third right-hand finger. I'm actually a pretty quick typist, even so, except on my phone (I'm tragic on my phone, pecking out my messages with one index finger, and continually having to back up and retype).
So, what does the keyboard of a SERIOUSLY right-handed hunt-and-peck typist look like after three years? As you'd imagine, most keys are showing a lot of wear: the A and the E are almost gone, and everything is showing noticeable wear except for the Q, Z and X, which kinda makes me want to write stories about Queen Zizzi and King Xerxes to share the load a bit.
That's all well and good, you say--those are the keys that everyone wears down. What about the right-handed part? Folks, here is a tip straight from Sherlock Holmes: You can tell I am right-handed because my left Shift button is worn down, and my right Shift button has barely a blemish. All the important stuff goes on with my right hand, while the left holds that Shift key down. Also, the long space bar at the bottom is only worn down on the right side. Elementary, Watson!

That's true! If it wears out, that just means I've been productive :)

I wear out a lot of keys as an eight-fingered typist (plus one thumb).

@AliCanary — I had typing jobs my entire career, so getting up to 80 WPM was part of the job. My fingers don’t move that fast anymore.

I did learn to type..the main key that wears down right away for me is N..for some reason.

It's a very common letter in English! I think E,R,S,T,N, and L are the top ones.

That's a very clever deduction! I learn to touch-type as an adult but I only use the Shift key and the space bar with my right hand.
