I used to think that way too. As a person who served my nation twice (Not America), I felt that I had done my parts. Even if the country is now filled with villians, it is no part or no intention of mine to intervene.
I had done my part, just let me rest.

My country was a peaceful one so I would just serve two and half years of active services in peace and 10 years of reservists. I am on the honorable discharge from the force. No addition payment from them even through I do occasionally get some benefits from them here and there.
I serve my nation again during the COVID period in the quarantine centre in the east helping to take care of the Covid-19 patients.
