I used a saltwater rinse after I woke up this evening and it hasn't started hurting again. I hope it won't start hurting again.

@jstory07 No, I talked with the dental office this morning, though. Since I'm not in pain anymore, they don't consider it an emergency so I've got an appointment on Friday.

Yes, there are alternatives but I can't take them.

Thanks. I hope so... If our car will start then. There's no Urgent Care near us, I'd have to drive to Springfield. We called the ER and they recommended finding a dentist that is open... @DaddyEvil Clove oil works well if you have any to dab on it. It's not toxic or anything.

@MarieCoyle We have cloves but no clove oil.

Thank you. Yes, I've been rinsing my mouth out with warm saltwater and that does make it feel better. I also took a pain reliever and a muscle relaxer. That ended the pain for now. On Monday, I'll call the dentist and see if she can work me into her schedule.

@DaddyEvil We won't mind if posting becomes habitual for you . So what has happened since - were you able to get to the dentist? I hope too that the tooth could be saved. Right - pain is never a fun thing - hopefully that went away. That's great Medicaid covers dental. My mom has Medicare but she has to pay extra for dental - but doesn't. The problem is she just doesn't want to go.

@much2say I made an appointment for Friday but had to cancel it. I still can't see well enough to drive. I'm up against the screen of my laptop to see to read on myLot. We rescheduled the appointment for next Friday. Hopefully, I'll be able to see then. When I woke up after taking the Soma, the pain was gone and hasn't come back since. I still need to get the tooth looked at, though. I hate going to dentists but do it when something forces me to do it. I'm glad I have decent teeth. Pretty has been wanting to go grocery shopping for several days (since the 19th) but, since I can't see to drive, she's ordering our meds and groceries for pick up and called my brother who said he could go later this afternoon and bring them to us. We normally shop on the 4th and 19th. Thankfully, we still have plenty of groceries but not snacky things, like Jimmy Dean sandwiches, burritos... etc. You know, things you don't have to cook.

Don't worry, I won't make a habit of posting. The dentist Medicaid said we can use is in Republic, 20 miles away. She was closed on Friday so we'll call again Monday and see if she can work me in. After I took some Tylenol and a Soma, I fell asleep and the pain has stopped now. I do still need to get the tooth either worked on or removed. I don't want to risk it starting to hurt again. Thank you. Since the pain stopped and hasn't started again, I think I must have bitten down on the jerky oddly... I'm not sure.

@flapiz I took a muscle relaxant with pain reliever, fell asleep and when I woke up, the pain was gone.

I'll have to call the dentist today and see when she can work on the tooth. I did get it to stop hurting, though.

I'm not feeling any pain anymore since I took Tylenol and a Soma.

Thank you. I took extra strength Tylenol and a Soma (muscle relaxant with pain med) yesterday evening and the pain still hasn't come back after I fell asleep. (I hadn't gotten to the point of the pain driving me crazy yet but had been getting close to that.) I'll call the dentist office again on Monday and see if the dentist will work me in.

@JudyEv Thank you... I don't do the cleanings anymore. I did one but the person doing the cleaning kept hurting me. When I complained that she was trying to pull a filling out of a tooth, she told me that if she removed a filling, the dentist would put in a new one. I asked who'd be paying for the pain and suffering and she got upset and quit working on my teeth, which was fine with me.

@DaddyEvil I do hope she can look after it for you. Vince has an appointment for a scale and clean but, because of his recent operations, he has to have antibiotics for three days before any dental work.

@mildredtabitha It's fine, thank you. It hasn't hurt since I took the muscle relaxant and I can't get to a dentist. As long as it doesn't hurt, I won't worry about it.

No, I didn't... Our car is having trouble and we'll have to get it fixed before I can get to the dentist or any other doctor except the doctor that is less than a mile from where we live.

@DaddyEvil that’s great news about the section 8. Doesn’t it always figure the way things will be though when you are hoping it finally save money and it has to be spent on something else . We are in the same boat here with me needing a new car right after my husband just bought a new truck. Thankfully my husband has a good job and can afford to buy me a car but I am worried about you . Will your dental bills be covered at least?

I'm worried the car won't start again to get to the appointment. I can always call the mechanic to give me a jumpstart but then I'll have to leave the car running when I get to the dentist. (The mechanic thought there might be something wrong with the alternator now. *sigh* We just had to replace the radiator in November.) It's a good thing the OACAC rep verified the house for Section 8. I just don't know when our rent will actually come down. (Section 8 will pay all but $145 a month towards our rent. That will leave us money we can do something else with... I wasn't planning on spending it fixing the car, but... ) I hope he found something you'll like.

No, I was eating beef jerky when it broke. It was even soft beef jerky... I must have bitten down on it wrong or something. Older adults break teeth, too. Remember, I'm 61, so my teeth have been in use for around 50 or more years. They're getting old. My dad passed away when he was 70 years old and only had three teeth left. I guess I'm lucky I've only lost 5 teeth so far. (I had to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled when I was 16. They were growing in sideways.)

It happened Thursday evening. Most dentists here are closed from Friday through Sunday. Thanks. I figured out that if I take 3 extra strength Tylenols with 1 Soma, I fall asleep and then have no pain for hours after I wake up.

@DaddyEvil I see, glad you figured out a way to not feel pain. That sounds like a lot of Tylenol but you gotta do what you gotta do.

@somewitch It might be a large amount but that tooth was really hurting. It hasn't started hurting again and I'm happy with that.
