Is it safe to eat a meal that had bitter potatoes?

Yesterday my mom cooked chicken broth. She added noodles and potatoes. After eating those potatoes I felt sick. I had severe nausea. I felt like I was poisoned. The potatoes were bitter and I thought it was only my impression. My mom tasted them and she also said they were bitter. I removed the potatoes. I wonder if it's safe to eat that chicken broth. I don't want to end up in the hospital. Those potatoes didn't have any green parts. They looked normal. But they were very bitter and they burned my mom's mouth. Is it safe to eat the leftovers? I don't want to get sick and I don't want to throw away good food.

@RebeccasFarm Potatoes aren't very expensive and we shouldn't risk our health.

They weren't green. Green potatoes are toxic. They have poison inside them.

Did you get a check-up? Potatoes can actually be poisonous.

No. The symptoms disappeared after a few hours.

@dya80dya oh yes, it's not always that dangerous. It can just cause nausea, tummy ache. The intensity differs for everyone. Here in the Philippines we avoid potatoes with black spots because it's not edible and might cause stomach discomfort.

I wouldn't eat either the potatoes or the broth.
