The little used second line

I have mentioned here before that in addition to my cellphone I have a little used second phone line. Friend pays for it because he doesn't want me to be "unreachable" Plus he thinks it is good to have in case of emergency. Except for me the emergency is usually misplacing my cellphone .However, the phone is good because I can call it. Another thing that is good is using it for mystery shopping. It rang just a few minutes ago. I thought it was friend, but it turned out to be the pharmacy with a prescription ready. For some odd reason I gave them that number Do you have more than one line available?I suppose most have more than one with a mobile.

@Tampa_girl7 I remember those days of dial up internet. What a pain.

@snowy22315 At one time we had two landlines. One for dial up internet. They really were always going out and not dependable.

We gave up our land line when we moved here. Since the move was so far, we could not keep our telephone number that we had had for 30 years, so we opted to just use our cellphones. We each have a different number of course, so technically we have 2 lines.

@Juliaacv Yeah, I bet it is like one out of 4 households, if that, and most people using them are over 50. Mine is sort of a hybrid.

@snowy22315 Our home phone number still has not been reassigned, less and less people are taking landlines.

I have only had my cell phone now for years. The landline was costly. I didn’t have long distance calling on it or it would have been more so but I used my cell phone for that. I got so many scam calls a day and the landline company wanted me to pay $5 extra a month to filter then out so I said forget it and cancelled my service.

This line the home phone connect is essentially a second cell, but it has the advantage of being able to plug cordless phones in and I have multiple cordless phones and multiple jacks so it kind of works for me

@shaggin Yeah, heck I have a cordless phone set up that has several cordless phones with it, but I am only using two. At least I don't have to get rid of them. The phone is Verizon Home Phone Connect if you are interested.

We have a mobile each and a landline. Sometimes reception here isn't too good on the mobiles.

I never had more than one cell, but I kept my landline for a very long time. I just liked having two options. Now though, it’s just the one cell.

The other one is technically a cell too, but it plugs into a traditional phone jack. They do come in handy

I did in the past. I used to have landline connection for my home internet and it served me as second way to connect with people. I would use the same in case there is issues with my smartphone but then I rarely used the same. But later as the cost and services of the home internet went high , had to disconnect the same. I do not have a secondary way to reach other than cellphone but with WhatsApp and internet , we are always connected on the go.So people could drop messages in case I am not reachable. I am also thinking of having a secondary connection and that could servce as differnt nuumber to reach out to me. Take care!
