A Difficult Offer to Refuse

My sister and her family asked if I wanted to join them on their trip to Peppa Pig Amusement Park in Dallas (Texas). I thanked them, but said I didn’t have the money. They said since my birthday was coming up (March) they’d pay for it. I was very appreciative, but said I just didn’t think I’d be up for it. I hope I didn’t hurt their feelings, and seeing the kids enjoy Peppa Pig rides would be fun, but I kinda of need to save up my energy. I love Dallas though. Honestly, it’s going to be such a quick trip that it seems to be a long car ride (those with excessive back pain get me) for such a short stay (3 days). Kids are resilient, but Aunt Amber is not.

It was nice of them to ask. However, you know what and what you are not comfortable with Tell sis to take lots of pics and videos

That was nice of them to invite you. I wouldn't be able to deal with that long car ride even without back pain. I am terrible in a car after about 3 hours.

It felt good to be invited. It was only a few years ago I got on Facebook and saw my sister’s family and my dad and stepmom were on vacation together in another state. Neither had bothered to tell me or invite me.

@AmbiePam I get it. They all went to Turks and Caicos in November together. I couldn't have afforded it ($12,000) but it would have been considerate of them to at least invite me.

You love the kids and they love you but for the drive, nope, not worth it. I hope no one had hurt feelings over it.

I didn't even know there was actually an amusement park dedicated to Peppa Pig! It's nice they wanted to include you, but yah, I totally get your reasoning to not go. The long car ride and even to just hang out in an amusement park with all that walking can be too much.

Apparently, the one in Florida has been around a few years, but Dallas is opening theirs March first. It’s not very big apparently, but I’m sure the kids will wear themselves out by repeating the rides.

@AmbiePam I just had to look up images. Oh my gosh, it looks exactly like how we think it would! Oh what it must be like to be a kid again to have a blast on those rides!

It does sound like a lot of fun, but you know your limits. Maybe your sister can plan something fun for you to be included fyjuat a day trip sometime. Heck, just say that to her…sometimes I don’t think people realize that some of us can’t do certain things due to physical limitations. A reminder won’t hurt!

@AmbiePam I know I get really tired and hurting during long car rides, too. It helps if I’m the driver at times, then I stop more often!!

I am sure that you will love to hear each of the children tell you their own rendition of the trip's highlights, as much as they will enjoy telling you.

At least they thought of you and wanted to include you, I agree about the short stay, I think that any stay anywhere should be at least a week-long or more,

Its disappointing that you had to pass on that vacation but I certainly understand how hard it can be for a long car ride. Hugs for Aunt Amber

I think it was not rude to decline at all. Because you're sincerely grateful for their invitation, but it's nice that you know how to listen to what you feel. It's not that you don't want it, it's just that it's not what yourself needs at the moment.

That’s so sweet of your sister and her family to offer! I can understand why they’d want you to join, especially for a fun trip like that. But I totally get what you mean about needing to save your energy—it’s important to listen to your body, especially when you have back pain. A long car ride and a quick trip could be exhausting, and it sounds like you made the right call for your own well-being. I’m sure your sister understands, and I’m sure the kids will have a blast, but I bet they’ll appreciate you keeping yourself healthy so you’re there for them in the future, too. Maybe you can plan a trip with them when it’s a bit more comfortable for you. Either way, Dallas must be so fun to visit when you’re up for it!

We actually do have a trip planned in September, a cruise to Canada. I don’t really get to travel so it’s a big deal. That’s a week long thing so I don’t feel like it will be a rushed trip. Someday though, I do want to go to Dallas with them.
