Hospitalisation insurance plans for my parents and myself

I had a shock of my life when I was told that my mum's insurance coverage would cost $12k. It was way more expensive than the 10k insurance coverage of my dad's. So on total, we would need to pay almost 8k each for each kids. While it is expensive, I would gladly paid it. We will never know when do we need to use the coverage.
For myself, I was warded for 6 days in ward A of a public hospital, with surgery and everything included, it would cost up to $30k if I am to pay the bills myself. I am glad that for $1.7k per year, it give me a coverage of that level. I could have went private but it will be way more expensive (easily double the bills that I will be paying)
My insurance also cover expenses up to 1 year post cancer operation. Even if I am to forego all my bonuses to pay insurance, I would still be glad to do so.
What about you? Are you covered by insurance coverage?

I have one through my employer and one taken personally . Any medical needs , I make most through my employer as it is easy to get claims settled and get reimbused when needed. The personal one , yes it can be burning my fingers. But then the idea is to have it for future. In India if an insurance coverage has been continuous for over 8 years and is always kept active , then the claims cannot be rejected post the 8 year period. Plus the bonus accumulated with no claim bonus should take care of the future in case needed. Not sure , if this is how it works in Singapore. Take care!

We enjoy medical insurance ,but we needn't pay that much ourselves for insurance coverage.

@id_peace The medical bills include the part that medical insurance pays and the part at one's own expense.

I was forced to retire before I reached the retirement age in the US because I am disabled. The government covers medical bills and meds for me and should do so for the rest of my life.

Oh I see. It is nice that the government would cover your medical bills. For our case, our government do subsidies some of our medical expenses and we can only use the medical insurance that they had purchased for us with strict conditions. The rest is either paid out of our own expenses or go through our personal insurance.

@id_peace The government here takes taxes from our paychecks that covers this type of things. So I paid all my working life for this insurance.
