In December 2018 after I had been on disability for a little over one year I was told I would get Medicare starting January 2019. But I needed to apply to Medicaid to pay $50 for my Part B. I did this and I never had an issue.
In June of 2022 we moved to another county, there everytime I turned around I was getting a letter from the social services here saying that my Medicade Part B was going to be turned off because I didn’t return the paper they sent me the previous month! What paper? I would call them and straighten it out. This kept happening over and over again!
On August 8th I got a letter from them again saying that they had sent me a letter saying that Medicade paying for part B was going to be cancelled starting in September because I didn’t return the paper to them that they sent them in July. Here we go again! But this time they added that I would continue to get Part B and the money would be deducted from my disability check….. $175 a month!!!! I called them and was told that I could call the number on the back of the letter to reapply and tell them it was an emergency and it needed to process in a hurry. So I did!
Weeks went by and I heard nothing, but I knew how they are about sending letters. September my disability check was normal, so I figured I would get my Medicaid letter soon. I got a letter alright! The letter stated that I was only eligible for Medicade Family Planning! I am 63! I got another letter that day saying that they should of taken money from my check that month there they will remove double amount from my check in October! I called them and they said I had a different case worker each day I called there saying that because my case is in a department where I am getting care where they are paying for someone coming in my home caring for me that there are multiple workers in there! I asked what she was talking about. I have never had anyone in there! She then said that because they were now paying for it, that I wasn’t my income is higher! I was also told that there is no such thing as applying for the Medicaid on the phone.I appealed it and was told that during the appeal the money would not be taken from my check! It was. I finally got my appeal hearing. He said that I would get his decision in 2 days. I didn’t! During this time I was diagnosed with Cancer that I had to have my surgery for! I had been getting a supplemental insurance with Humana as part of my Medicare. A few weeks later I get the decision from the appeals person that said I was applying for full Medicade and that I was not eligible because I was getting too much money, less then what I was getting in 2018 when i applied for the Part B in the first place! This decision was written in 30 pages! Oh yeah at the hearing the caseworker was saying things in the phone application and holding it against me…. but remember she said that there was no such thing. Then I got a card and letter from United Health saying I had their advantage plan, which is Medicade. I was told no I didn’t have it! Then I spoke to a man again Medicade saying that I have had it since September! Now Humanna all of the sudden is saying that they are not paying for my surgery because I was not staying in the hospital for 2 nights and because I was not that bad off because the doctor didn’t show proof I was. Now I have to call the doctor! Insurance!

What in the world?! How crazy. My daughter got a letter from Medicaid a couple of months ago saying they were going to stop her insurance. I called all three places(SS, Medicare and Medicaid) it was a mistake. Someone had put the wrong SS# in the computer. They are so understaffed it is a wonder we have what we have. And, it is only going to get worse with Trump at the helm. Ugh! I hope you get this all straightened out. What a hassle.

Sorry you have having trouble. I had trouble with food stamps. I was supposed to get food stamps every third of the month, but when I went to the grocery store on Jan. 5th, I didn't have any. I called the caseworker on that Monday, but she didn't answer. I left a message. On Tuesday I wrote my social worker about it and she talked to my caseworker. I was supposed to get the food stamps on Wednesday. I didn't. I call the caseworker again on Thursday and she said there was an error in processing. She fixed it and everything was fine I thought. Then I got a letter saying I don't live in the state which is crazy and they would cut off my food stamps at the end of Jan. I wrote my social worker and she found out the letter was a system error. Then I got another letter saying I will have food stamps in February.

I am so sorry! I am having problems with my foodstamps also. They also lowered my foodstamps in September saying that I had more income then because I was no longer paying for the caregivers that have been coming in my home, they are! What caregivers? Then when I told the appeal agent he just said “ Oh” and it was never mentioned again!” My foodstamps were never raised and they are still taking money from my disability check each month to cover the part B of my Medicare.

I really hate those people (workers). I got an unexpected check for $900 in December 2018 from Medicaid while waiting to get back pay approved - called to ask what it was, spent 45 minutes on the phone and was assured yes, I was supposed to get that check. So I deposited it and spent it - only to be told a month later that $900 would be deducted from my back pay because I was NOT supposed to get that $900 check.
No one there has any clue what anyone else is doing in my opinion.

Oh no! Yep sounds like them! I am sorry that happened to you. Because of their errors too I was short on paying my utilities. Got late fees, more bad marks on my credit and had no Christmas presents for my grandkids. My checks are small enough anyway I can’t go out, get presents for other family members. They don’t know what they are doing!
