Who comes first for you - family or friends?

Or you like to keep these two groups separated? Maybe it's wise not mixing apples with oranges. If some of your friends insult or say a strange joke about your family members, will you let it slide? Or you trust them strongly and you can vouch for them? Or maybe your family and friends are hanging out together and it is all good? Or sometimes it's too much trouble hanging our with just your friends, without the family or vice versa? Like to know what you think.

I do not have problems with mixing my family and friends. I am quite confident that my friends will not say something bad about my family. I feel lucky in that sense.

That's really nice. The worst thing is for example, not going at a concert with a family member cause your family member's friend doesn't stand you and that family member didn't want to get uncomfortable.

Family. Why would you choose friends over family? They have a family of their own that they need to choose first over us; and that is the right thing to do.

@grenery8 Its still family, coz at the end of the day, your family is the only one who will accept you ready or not they have no choice but to accept you, except if they are really bad. Friends with no family can be treated as family. But at the end of the day, that friend will never be as loyal as your family. Anyway you have a new profile pick, is this becuse of the chinese new year? Lol!

What if friends don't have yet a family of their own? That's a good question why not picking your family but there are family members out there who care more about their friends, work mates, unknown people and simply don't care about their family at all but when things get tough, then they come home crying and seeking for support they didn't ever provide to their family.

A joke is fine unless it’s truly mean. Family comes first but sometimes we are closer to our friends than our family.

That's true. Since school days or teenage age, we feel friends are there for us but we shouldn't disregard family ties. I agree for mean jokes.

I would always put family before friends but since right now I have neither near me it really does not matter.

It should be but some family members, sadly, don't care about other family members.

I have a close group of friends that I consider family. There is no scale of importance like that. We all treat each other with respect.

That's good to know. Some have friends that they can't stand their family members so it's hard to balance those two.

My friends would not say derogatory things about my family. If they did, they would no longer be my friends. We have family and friends get together sometimes and really enjoy each other's company. It is really not someone's place who is not related to speak ill of family members!
