I think I found some petrified wood today

Petrified wood is fairly rare in the East, but Virginia has some. I was walking in a wooded area and saw some wood that looked like it had a core of iron. If course it was rock hard. It was pretty interesting. That was the coolest thing I've seen outside since I found the bright blue toadstools. Have you seen anything interesting outdoors lately?

Oh my that would be grand to find. I found a nice sized yellow bird feather on the trail last week.

Yellow, do you think it was from a wild canary?

@snowy22315 Too big a feather. I need to look up what an oriole looks like.

I saw some deer's drinking water from the river when we went there. A skunk family walked by so I turned and left real quick.

Good for you! Did you have your cellphone camera at the ready, or did the skunk family walk by before you could get a shot?

Toadstools are marvellous things, aren't they? And the colours can be fantastic.
