A better day today

My little one slept until about 10:45 this morning. I was shocked and finally wound up waking her up. It was a half day of school for my son. As soon as he got home he and my little one had an indoor snowball fight. My little one and I read 11 books together. Reading and cuddling with her are my favorite moments each day. I made a new recipe for dinner “The best garlic bread”. I made Raviloi in red sauce to go with that and because I was hungry for it I made Bean Rarebit. My husband made himself steak and a salad. It was a much more enjoyable day then many of the other days were this week.

@allknowing it just happened to be a tasty recipe the new one I tried. I’d make two other garlic bread recipes in the past and they were terrible. This one is a keep. Easy to make too.

@allknowing this wasn’t from scratch. I bought a loaf of French bread at Walmart on clearance for 51 cents. Cut it in half toasted it in the oven then added the ingredients and toasted it until it was ready to eat. I have made fresh baked bread a few times though different kinds.

@sallypup it’s basically white beans mixed with a ton of cheese sauce that you eat on toasted breads. It’s a bit too runny so next time I will either add an extra can of beans or make half of the other ingredients.

@shaggin Cheese sauce? Homemade cheese sauce? I'm trying to keep down my eating cheese though I love the stuff. Nutritional yeast helps with cheesy flavor.

@sallypup yes cheddar cheese. I eat cheese constantly there’s not many dishes I don’t eat it in. I’ll be doomed if I had to avoid it someday I would hard a hard time finding anything I liked to eat

@snowy22315 it was and today is nice so far as well. My little one and I made the crazy cake you wrote about it’s almost out of the oven. When it cools we will be adding homemade peanut butter frosting. I wonder do they even sell that flavor in stores in cans?

@snowy22315 oh that’s an excellent idea since it has no eggs. I don’t mind eggs in my food but I am squeamish still of them in a dish like deviled eggs etc. it took me 20 years to be able to eat them after stopping when I was 7.

@shaggin I don't think so. I made homemade chocolate frosting for it. I am going to a vegetarian dinner next month. I plan to take it.

@celticeagle I will miss these days when she no longer wants to do either with me. I missed that after my older kids stopped wanting to cuddle and read with me. Then I got to babysit my niece and got to read to her and now I have my 3 year old.

@Tina30219 I have a clothes line across my kitchen everyone hates. It was there when I moved in and I use it to hang my jeans up to dry instead of going in the dryer. It makes them last years longer.

@shaggin We line dry in our front bedroom that we don’t really use much so it normally does not dry til later at night. We even line dry in the summer outside.

Glad your day was better today. I remember my little boy sleeping right through the night and through to after lunch. I ended up ringing a nursing friend but he was okay. I guess he was just a bit overtired.

@Judyev I remember when my oldest was a baby and she slept so long during the night that I was terrified she had succumbed to SIDS and ran into her room to see if she was breathing. She’s 20 now
