Florida doesn’t need Punxsutawney Phil from PA. They’ve got other animals making predictions.
In Cape Coral, they celebrate Ground Owl Day at Pelican Baseball Complex. The city’s official bird makes her prediction. If she sees her shadow then spring will be here soon.
In Marathons at Florida Keys Aquarium, it’s Ground Conch Day
In the Panhandle at the Gulf Breeze Zoo, it’s Kenya Day so no Groundhog but Giraffe Day with a 15-foot-tall giraffe making predictions. This giraffe is amazing it will predict if spring will be here soon and the winner of the upcoming Super Bowl.

These different takes on Groundhog Day are probably publicity spinners for them so everyone jumps on the bandwagon.
