Did you predict the post-Trump-election stock market dip?

I did, but I was not overly concerned with it. I think the DJIA went from over 44,000 to something like 42,500 or so after Trump started making his wacky cabinet picks. But I just accepted it. The Market goes up over the years, and it is best not to try to "time the market." That said, I am investing my "fun money" (money from Guitar Center, speaker restoration, and music gigs) in Fixed Income Funds at 4.5 per cent or so. I am feeling old and do not know how much I will be worth when I die. The Liberal media is saying that Trump has imposed tariffs on this Country and that, and that there will be a stock market decline tomorrow (2/2/25) morning. Do you think it's true? I just want to be in a position where I don't care.

We have some funds set in a position that is steady. It does not flow with the tide. It just steady on drips more money toward us. Is there any way you can go to a more remote location like your Montana place, if you were feeling the need?? I wish I didn't feel that we are in for some deeply disturbing financial times. In a way I wish my hubby and I were squirreled away on our bitty three acres and not sitting in a small town.

I wish we could move to the family property for a while but we can't get our medications there. The family property is in the Arkansas mountains. (The edge of the Ozark Mountains.)

@DaddyEvil I liked Arkansas. We are so dependent and it can't be helped. I am thinking about things like: water. Of course we need water. What IF the town's water system gets compromised?? How to store enough to do much?? And then your meds. What if Medicare and Medicaid is messed with? It just goes on.....

@sallypup He's already trying to mess with Medicare and Medicaid as well as the other types of government aid that people like Pretty and I need. (We were just approved for Section 8 housing for the house we're renting.)

I am just waking up. The world seems OK. A jet just passed over my house and did not crash. Kitty is eating.

This is the best time to stay invested in the market. See there could be a little more fall and hopefully no further fall from there , else that could be recession. But then investing money here would potentially give good returns over a 5 year period . Atleast it has done so when the recession and the pandemic happened. Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed with having so much cash with them or disposable income. It is good you are making the best of the situations and that could help in long run. I can think of investing my mylot payouts although that may not fetch me much. Still better than doing nothing!
