Ocean warming and all that..........vs. wars

I came across this article, and it bothered me. Not because I am seriously concerned about the planet like those scientists are but because I am most likely to be around for the next 20 years. Now, they are screaming ocean warming at the rate of 400 percent per decade.........who is listening... The formula one racing community? They use so much of that fuel for practicing and eventually displaying their extraordinary reflexes? The arms manufacturers? Do we really need them considering the alarming pace at which the god almighty wants to boil us alive? The war mongering Putins, Zelenskys, Netanyahus and Hamas? Do they really understand the implications of what they are doing? The nuclear bomb experimenting nations like North Korea that warm the earth from within? The builders who tell everybody you need larger homes....so that more cement is used up and to manufacture and transport that ...more petrol, and so also the bricks and paints and wires and lights and furniture and furnishing..... myopic vision The politicians and priests who tell people to have more kids because their religious group is being outnumbered...even though there are no jobs waiting...and these very youngsters may burn large vehicle tires to protest...increasing those carbon emissions.. The office goers who find home delivery of food, grocery and even lunch worth better than sparing time from mobile phones to cook a meal for self. Knock knock...that two wheeler which brings your food, drinks gas. Not to mention may have roaches etc. And idiots like I, who just bought a third pair of chappals, fearing non availability of my size footwear in time....as has been the case in the past. You would say my purchase doesn't really matter. It does. I might die much before..thanks to the warming. So....is it time to stop buying and devote our time to simpler life? Have we stolen enough from the next generations and of course, the uneducated animals like our pets?

The Bible says that all these things are what will happen in the end times.

What a pity we believe neither the Bible, nor the Scientist.

@vandana7 I think it's high time people turn back to the Bible before it's too late.

I feel sorry to see youngsters around me. I feel they will have it very tough, and maybe I am guilty to some extent.

The Earth has gotten warmer than it is now all by itself, without humans doing it. The Earth has also been a frozen snowball in times past without humans being involved and the Earth has come back from both with life in abundance. Just because OUR lives won't be the same doesn't mean life won't go on and the planet will continue, too. Buy your extra pairs of shoes, live any way you want. The planet will go on until the sun becomes a red giant and consumes the Earth... THEN nothing will live on the planet anymore. Worry about it then.

I am not as optimistic for the world as you are. I predict just 20 years hereon. If not before that.

@vandana7 Unless someone blows the world up, then something and someone will still be here beyond 20 years from now. Do you know something I don't?

I rarely find shoes that fit me. They are either too small, or too wide, or too narrow or too long. LOL. Some end up heavy for me to manage and some have heel that I am not comfortable with. So if my shoes give way, its kinda nightmare. I struggle to find the right ones as feet pain kill me, and I get plenty of shoe bites because of narrow ones that take time to expand. This shop accidentally had the right size for me, so I bought two earlier. Then now thinking let me not suffer shoe bites in old age, let me buy one more, each will last about five years, so I am done.

Climate change is a real thing.Unfortunately nothing concrete is being done . We can do certain things to certain extent. We have to be content with that due to constraints we are going through. Due to inflation , job insecurity and medical challenges , leading a simple life is no longer viable unless you are born into family that can support you or has other ways to support you. We do not have to wait for 20 years , in five years we are expected to see more intensity of heatwaves. We can feel sorry for our next generations and well it is going to be tougher and tougher each going year.
