Why I never considered being an immigrant...

Of the many reasons, some of which are age related, I could say it is culture. For example, somebody yesterday said All stray dogs should be killed because they are rabies carriers. (well something to this effect). I replied All STD and HIV carriers should be killed too, because they can cause those infections. Now, this would get me a lot of bashing in the Western world, because it seems to isolate a group. But in my world, the comparison would be understood exactly as it was meant....meaning...having a disease or likelihood of passing on a disease does not warrant killing the person or animal. See? Therefore, there is danger of language and culture that can cause serious issues. How would you have interpreted it? Yes, same thing could have been phrased more pleasantly but then, we are humans...mistakes happen...HIV or STD folks were not the target...target was the person's thinking and inability to view the animal on the same plane as the human being.

I can say stray dogs are dangerous as they bite passerby but HIV positive person doesn't bite but spreads it but not forcefully.

@vandana7 No, Dearheart, I'm sorry, but once a dog is infected with rabies and showing any symptoms, the dog's immune system can't beat it. I HOPE "your" stray dog never gets rabies but you need to be more careful. Any scratch or bite, even playful nips can still infect you. If you get too comfortable with strays, you can get rabies from them.

HIV is under control these days as it learnt how to co-exist with its host.

But people tend to take offense if they are categorized as such.

You DID consider becoming an immigrant. And, after considering it, you decided you didn't want to go to the trouble and expense of moving to the US.

In an extremely tentative way, yes....do remember, you said you had cancer....and your daughter was not able to go outside to work...because of agarophobia...it was under extreme circumstances...not out of desire.

Thank God Americans did not rule us after the Brits. Half of the Indians would be thinking like the Americans...do not read the sentence in depth, but take offense at the superficial language....everything is for the lawyers...LOL

It must be hard for some immigrants to come to terms with the culture of their new country. Probably best that you stay where you are and where you know what is expected of you.

Getting into problems in an alien country where you don't know whom to turn to...that too unintentionally can have serious implications. When the culture gets deeply ingrained, it is best to stay put.

I understood what you meant. I could add that rabid muskrats should be deleted too.

Actually feeding stray dogs reduces the probability of them getting infected simply because dogs tend to be territorial, and will confine themselves to an area if they can find food there. This reduces the possibility of them being infected by others or infected food. Just a thought....I am for putting anti bite contraptions after feeding and making the dogs drink. Once the prevalence is reduced......it can actually disappear completely from the dogs. A similar measure in cats too would help, but cats are less prone to rabies.

My roots are in India. So I prefer to stay in India. It is foolishness of our people to believe fhSt the west is paradise. People here have no idea how many people live depressed lives. Of course, psychiatrists are quite popular in the west. Yes, for psychiatrists, western countries are good. And those people use toilet paper which is great disadvantage because water is best and healthy to use . Many children in the west are the victims of bullying in school. Ultimately I guess it is about where we are born and brought. For an American his roots are there in America

The converse of Andhon mein kana raja holds good there. LOL. (the person with one eye is the king among the blinds). So when our kids go there.....we may face discrimination, which we have to take in our stride, simply because the country has too much of litigation, and it is expensive.
