Anabolic French Toast

Anabolic means the bread slices were soaked in egg whites instead of whole eggs, and very little milk because milk doesn't have that much protein.
Which means anabolic french toast is high in protein.
Okay, actually it just means they build muscle. If you also work out, that would be.
Then I added some cinnamon, some vanilla extract. I forgot sugar but found out I prefer them with no sugar or sweetener, so no big deal.
I tried to shape them like hearts with a cookie cutter, but failed.
They tasted good though, not as burned as they seem. I used wholegrain bread but I don't think that's the reason they look burned. Maybe it's the egg white but they wouldn't be ANABOLIC otherwise.
Would you have Anabolic French Toast?
I can't wait to have pancakes tomorrow. They'll be low carb, so I can have some fruit on the side.
My engine requires carbs but not too many.

I don't find it everywhere and it's usually quite hidden in some refrigerated shelf, and almost never where eggs are.

@grenery8 The yolk is very tasty on its own, the white needs some extra help. I buy the whites in a carton so there's no yolk "leftover", but I also eat whole eggs. Separating the two is out of question at the moment, seems quite difficult.

I like French toasts but I would not change the original recipe. In fact, I only use whole milk for all the recipes with milk.

@marguicha I'm sure the original recipe would taste much better, I should try it someday. I bought some skimmed milk to try but I'll be back to whole milk once I'm done with that carton.

@somewitch Years ago, one of my friends´ girls asked me why was it that the milk I had was white while the one at their houses was green. I laughed and told them that their mothers only bought skimmed milk.

@marguicha Green?!
The one I got is not green but hey, it is not white either. Not as white as the good old whole milk at least. I really miss it now.

@snowy22315 Same, unless there's an ingredient I really dislike such as capers.

@somewitch I sometimes dip a slice of bread in milk then fry it and add salt. Very basic but I like it.

@JudyEv They taste better than they look, even if this recipe is "poorer" than the original. I've never had real French toast either, I'll have to some day so I can compare the two versions.

@JudyEv Sounds good. I guess it's the bread itself that makes the difference, along with frying that gives some more flavor.

I actually haven't heard of that but maybe every now and then I'd have it. Not something I'd have all the time. Hopefully the pancakes are just as good.

@JordanLader Yeah, not something I'd have all the time either. I think the pancakes will be much better, I'll try making different kinds too.

No clue where you found such a description but it is dumb. Anabolic simply means building complex molecules. There is nothing about using just egg whites as opposed to whole eggs that has anything to do with that. In no way is “anabolic” French toast high in protein.

@somewitch French toast is primarily bread which is not high-protein nor is it low-calorie. All you are doing by using just egg whites is reducing fat a bit.

Yeah, I know it's funny. It comes from the fitness/body building world, so the anabolism they mostly care about is muscle mass, while catabolism is wished upon fat. The egg yolks are very nutritious but also richer in fat compared to egg whites.
While not the best source of protein, I disagree the "anabolic" French toast is not high in protein. Well, while it's clearly not a steak, it provides a decent amount of aminoacids while keeping calories relatively low.

@NJChicaa Depends on the bread/egg white ratio, but I think it'd be still higher in protein than cereal with milk.

@lilacskies I'd like to try the original recipe, it's in the to-do list.
But the list is long and I need to wake up in a great mood to give it a try, so it's going to take a while. I can't have too many breakfasts in a day either, sadly.
