Phoenix Arizona resident Paul Guilbeault was moving from Massachusetts to Arizona in 2017 when he in Oklahoma City Oklahoma when he went walking with his then six month old dog Damion when his dog ran away from him and got lost.
Paul had to leave Damion behind in Oklahoma City after searching for him for about one week to continue his move to Phoenix when Paul received a text message from Oklahoma City resident Rick Chambers giving him the good news on New Year's Eve that Damion had been found in the same city.
Damion had a microchip on him when the dog was at an animal shelter. Damion had been seen 30 miles from he went missing.
Paul and his partner drove from Phoenix to Oklahoma City by auto to reunite with his lost friend who had lost weight but is in good condition.

Eight years is a long time, and if the dog was microchipped, I wonder why it was not handed over to the animal shelter earlier.
Perhaps, the finder kept it for themselves, and then it escaped from them too, and finally ended up in the animal shelter.
