Better the birds eat them

I talked about the issue of harvesting mangoes in our garden. Our gardener has left and we have to look for someone to harvest them when the time comes. There is just one tree that has yielded and the yield is not huge either Harvesting is costly and may not match the price of mangoes that we will get if we have someone to harvest them. I therefore feel it is better to leave those mangoes for the birds. They do sometimes drop ripe mangoes which we can have. What say?

What variety of mango is ready for harvesting at this time? The totapuri one is available throughout and we use it for chutney and pickles. They don't taste good when ripe. Yes, leaving it to birds sounds better. Let them have the feast.
