Happy Saturday

Happy Saturday myLot friends. I managed to sleep a bit later this morning. That felt nice as I am still feeling the effects of the bug that I had earlier in the week. Hopefully I will be feeling myself again in the next few days. The grocery store was awful quiet this morning. I love it when it is like that, no line ups and nobody to wait behind in the aisles. I did not have alot to get. After I got my groceries I stopped at another place and picked up a Kinderegg Surprise for each of the girls for Valentines day. They love a little chocolate in the afternoon, and this will fit that bill nicely for one day. Our daughter-in-law's mother took a bad fall outside a couple of days ago. The x-rays revealed that she broke both bones in the lower part of her right arm. They put a brace on it and advised her to be prepared to receive a call for surgery so that they could pin the arm. This morning she is having a screw put in. In the meantime, she has been staying at our son's place. Due to the pain she sleeps the majority of the day, which means that my hubs has to try to keep the girls really quiet. I do not know if they will discharge her as she lives alone (an hour away from a hospital) and cannot drive without the use of her right arm. She will either have to go to a home to recover or move into our son's place for a time. I don't think that it would be a healthy idea for her to stay with them. As a result I wanted to spoil the twins just a little, besides it is fun to.

There is an overhang on the front porch of her home which has a tin covering and it slopes downward. There is no eavestrough on it like there should be, so it drips water, which falls, and there was some that landed on the stairs and froze. She fell on there. It could have been worst had she landed on her hip and broke that. She called our daughter-in-law, who was at the office, and by the time that she spoke with her boss and got approved to leave and got to her mother it was well over an hour's time that lapsed. She works part time, and still has a mortgage and alot of debt, and now she will not be able to make any money nor pay her bills. This is not a good situation at all. Our daughter-in-law and son have a healthy income, but they cannot carry 2 households unless they want to burden their children some day.

@Juliaacv Oh gee...it is tough when you live alone like that. That is my worse fear that I will get hurt here, and be unable to get to a phone. I have gotten hurt here a couple of times, but nothing like that fortunately, and sometimes I have had people here too I watch what the heck I am doing here so I don't end up with a bad injury..Hopefully, something will work out her, and she will be able to go back to work at some point.

@snowy22315 She has clinical depression and she really doesn't want to work, which is why she has the debt that she does at her age. I cannot imagine how she will manage. She may have to sell her home and take an apartment in town, she would at least be closer to the hospitals, and be freed of the upkeep a home involves. But she doesn't do well with making decisions like that, I am sure that our daughter-in-law will need to force her hand to make a move if necessary.

Oh so do I. They won't likely send her home in her condition and she will drive our son and his family nuts if she stays there. She is just really really needy on a regular basis, and this will make that worse.

@Juliaacv Maybe they can take her home and then check on her regular. As it's just one arm she should be able to manage most things.

My nieces love Kinder Eggs too. I sure hope that bug that got you is well on its way out. My sister is getting over Covid, we’re hoping the kids don’t get it too.

Our son loved Kindereggs too, I used to buy him one a week. I did not think that they were sold in the US, guess I was wrong. I always enjoyed buying our son Valentines sweets. I hope that Mindy feels better soon, it cannot be easy recovering from COVID.

Thank you, I cannot imagine how she is handling the pain. The doctor popped it in on the day that she fell, but she has been trying to keep it mobilized since then. Hopefully the surgery will help.

Thanks, I suspect that she has osteo as she broke one of her heels a few years ago and was laid up for months. I hope that she doesn't have a repeat of that, but she is a few years older. I hope that she comes out of the anesthetic mentally intact. My heart breaks for my daughter-in-law, she cannot afford to support her mother, she is only a few months older than I am, and they have a mortgage to pay off themselves.
