My monthly dividend income payout for Jan 2025

because of my thyroid cancer, I received an amount of early critical illness payout with Cancer guard payout with a total of $200,000. I was very heavily into insurance purchases which I did not expect a cash component for the investment so indirectly, the money was like a windfall to me.
Instead of spending it on a car that last for 20 years old, I decided to try my hand on income fund investment with the objectives of these funds giving me monthly income each month.
With this, I hope to retire in another 10 years time at the ripe old age of 55. It is going to be a difficult challenge but will be happy to accept the challenge.
There are a lot of registrations and start up issues in the beginning. I am happy to do it with help from my wealth manager. In the month of January, I am glad that I received an income of $1,038 in January. It may not be a lot and still some distance from my target retirement incomes of $6,000 but I am happy that it is still a good start. (I had been sharing my investment journey on my blog which link is found on my profile)
I will be consolidating and concentrating on only 3 income funds which will continue to give me more incomes. I am more mindful with my spending and hope to spend lesser and invest more into these funds.
I will continue to contribute maybe a post here on a monthly basis to share my financial journey towards financial freedom.

First of all, hope you have recovered from cancer. It’s an incredible and inspiring financial journey you are having. An unexpected payout and turning that into long term income rather than spending. Thats smart and disciplined behaviour. What is great is your investment and also generating good returns. It is quite solid for a start and there could be plenty of room for growth. Strategic investments and mindful spending are key behaviours and it does show your unwavering commitment towards retiring at 55/ It does look like a challenge but with your planning, execution, perseverance , it seems to be achievable. Looking forward to hearing more updates from you. Good Luck!
