Gratitude

Always be grateful for life. I suffer many illnesses and yet I remain positive in this life trying to always see something good so that I don't live in a state of constant depression. I have been depressed recently though because my husband has been diagnosed with ALS. It is very serious and there is no cure, or good treatment for it. He is deteriorating before my eyes. It is painful to watch. I wish I could take it from him and possibly handle it with my ability to see some good in everything, but there is no good in ALS. It is a horrible disease. Does anyone on here have ALS or is a caretaker for someone with it? I could use a boost in moral right about now. I try to stay positive, but sometimes I get drug down and need that boost.

I do not have but in my country, there is a male actor who had this. He is still surviving after 15 years. While he is slowing down and walk like an old man, he is still on a relatively good condition. He attributed it to his doctor, positive people around him, and his faith in his religion. I will pray for your husband.

Thank you for your prayers, there is nothing stronger than prayer. I can not thank you enough. And to know someone is still walking with it after having it for 15 years, that is so encouraging. Thank you for sharing this with me!

Thank you so much! I'm sure this will be fun. I just happened up on this and am hoping for more positive energy than most social media platforms.

Welcome to mylot.Sorry to see you and your spouse need to go through all of these. Watching a loved one suffer, especially with ALS, is definitely painful. We can understand how it is and how drained and overwhelmed you are at times. The strength and ability to find positive during these testing times and your struggles are truly inspiring. Its definitely alright to admit you are struggling and need support. A little support can definitely help. I believe there are ALS support groups. You could reach out to them online or offline and that could be of good help. There are more people who can understand and help you with better practical advice and emotional support. Be gentle with yourself. You are doing your best in these trying conditions and that definitely counts as an act of love. Take care!

Thank you so much. I have joined several ALS groups and the ALS/MDA group to become more educated and have support, but sometimes I need normal people support. Not people that have been trained to support, if that makes sense. Thank you for understanding.

I completely agree. I have a lot of physical and mental illnesses due to prolonged narcissistic abuse and it is tough. Everyday is a challenge, but I remain grateful for living a peaceful and quiet life despite it all.

It helps to live in positivity, doesn't it? I like to see a flower and smell that flower. Take a moment to enjoy the little things. When life fills my plate with negativity, I have to stop and enjoy some of the positive things that are out there to equal it all out. You get it. Thanks!

@trbr22 If you live positively, you can feel positive too. I do the same thing. People try to bring me down and yes, sometimes it works, but I still grit my teeth and stay strong to smell the flowers, look up at the stars, and just enjoy life. I definitely get it. No problem!
